Kamba Ramayanam in english

Great effort, congrats. Va.vE.Su. Ayyar has also translated Kambaramayanam into English. Such efforts should be encouraged by Tamil University, as this is what Mahakavi Bharathi desired.  VGopalan, Bharathi Ilakkiya Payilagam, Thanjavur.

தகவலுக்கு நன்றி. சில 20 வருடங்களுக்கு முன் நடந்த ஒரு நிகழ்ச்சி நினைவு வருகிறது.  அடியேனிடம் 'இராம காதை' இல்லை. மும்பையில் எங்கும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. ஒரு முறை சென்னைக்கு செல்லும் வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தது. அண்ணா சாலை ஹிக்கின்பாதம்ஸ் கடைக்கு சென்றேன். ஒவ்வொரு பகுதியாக பார்த்துக்கொண்டு வரும்போது ஒரு salesman-இடம் 'கம்பராமாயணம்' இருக்கிறதா? என்று கேட்டதற்கு, அவர் 'யார் எழுதியது?' என்று பதில் சொன்னார் - கேட்டார். எனக்கோ வியப்பு. கம்ப ராமாயணத்தை அவரைத்தவிர வேரு யார் எழுதியிருப்பார்கள்?

Main table - லில் இருப்பவரிடம் முறையிடுவதற்காக சென்று சிப்பந்தி கேட்டதை தெரிவித்தேன்.

அவர் கூறியது இதுதான்.

'அவர் கேட்டது சரிதான் சார், பல ஆசிரியர்கள் எழுதியிருக்கிறாகள். உங்களுக்கு எது வேண்டும்?'

ஒருவேளை 'இராமகாதை' மூலம் வேண்டும் என்று கேட்டிருந்தால் கிடைத்திருக்குமோ என்னவோ!

அவர் ‘எந்த உரையாசிரியருடைய பதிப்பு வேண்டும்’ என்று கேட்டிருக்கிறார்.  யார் எழுதினது என்றால், யாருடைய உரை என்பது பொருளல்லவா?  பல உரைகள் வெளிவந்துவிட்டன.  நாற்பத்தைந்து ஐம்பது வருடங்களுக்கு முன்னால், ஒரு பதிப்பு கிடைப்பதற்காகத் திண்டாடியிருக்கிறேன்.
