வேர்வரை தமிழை ஆழ்ந்த
வேழமே ஓய்ந்ததென்ன
தேரினை இழுத்து வந்த
திருக்கரம் சாய்ந்ததென்ன
கார் முகில் போல் பொழிந்த
கலை மழை நின்றதென்ன
பாரதி மறைந்த நாளில்
பாப்பையா மறைந்ததென்ன

தென்னகத் தென்றலாக
திசையெல்லாம் அளந்து வந்தாய்
மன்னவன் போல் நிமிர்ந்து
மன்றங்கள் ஆண்டிருந்தாய்
மின்னிடும் முறுவல் மாறா
மேதைமைக் குழந்தை நீயே
என்றைக்கும் தமிழர் நெஞ்சில்
இமயமாய் வாழுவாயே
