In entomology, proboscis is the organ for sucking ( உரிஞ்ச)

ENTOMOLOGY
(in many insects) an elongated sucking mouthpart that is typically tubular and flexible.

Mosquitoes detect sounds with their antennae, and many flies use theirs to gauge air speed while they are in flight

Though அலைவாங்கி looks a nice term, it is worth remembering that modern day antennae mount both receiver and transmitter.

சரியே ... இக்காலத்தில் விண்டோஸ்,  மவுஸ் போன்ற பெயர்கள் போலவே முன்னரும் ஏதோ ஒரு தொடர்பு காட்டி ஆண்டெனா எனப் பெயர் சூட்டியுள்ளார்கள்

அலைவாங்கி, அலைவீசி.

பெயர் சூட்டிய காலத்தில் கரப்பானின் உணர்கொம்புகள்  புலனறிய சமிக்கைகளைப் பெற்று உணரும்.

கரப்பான் ஆண்டெனா மூலம் சமிக்கை அனுப்பாது.  

அவ்வாறே வானொலி, தொலைக்காட்சி ஆண்டெனாக்களும் சமிக்கைகளைப் பெறும் ஆனால் அனுப்பியதில்லை.

அதனால் பெயர் பொருந்தியிருக்கிறது... அக்காலத்தில் 

இப்பொழுது தொழில் நுட்பம் வளர்ச்சி அடைந்தாலும் ஆண்டெனா அப்படியே பெயர் மாறாது உள்ளது.
