சதுரங்க பட்டினம் (சட்ராஸ்) பற்றிய தமிழ்நாடு சுற்றுலாத்துறையின் பதிவைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது அதில், மலைமண்டலப் பெருமாள் கோயில் வாயில் கதவில் உள்ள கல்வெட்டு ஒன்றின் படத்தை வெளியிட்டு அக்கல்வெட்டின் காலம் 1603 என்று குறிப்பிடப்பட்டிருந்தது. கல்வெட்டு, தமிழிலும் கன்னடம் அல்லது தெலுங்கு மொழியிலும் எழுதப்பட்டிருந்தது. தமிழ்ப்பகுதியில், தமிழ் ஆண்டான ரவுத்திரியும், கன்னடப்பகுதியில் சக ஆண்டு 1662 என்றும் தெளிவாகக் காணப்பட்டது. இவ்விரு குறிப்புகளும் கி.பி. 1740 -ஆம் ஆண்டுக்கு மிகச் சரியாகப் பொருந்துகின்றன.

குறிப்பு: கி.பி. 1740 – ஆம் ஆண்டுக் காலகட்டத்தில் சதுரங்கப்பட்டினம் பகுதி டச்சுக்காரர் வசம் இருந்திருக்கக் கூடும். அதே கால கட்டம், நாயக்கர் ஆட்சி அல்லது பாளையப்பட்டு அமைப்பின் இறுதிப்பகுதியாகவும் இருந்திருக்கக் கூடும். கல்வெட்டில் “மல மண்டல சுபாமியார் கிருபா…க்ஷத்துனாலே என்பது தெலுங்கு/கன்னடப்பகுதியிலும் ” ஸ்ரீமலமண்டலஸ்வாமி க்ருபாகடா(க்ஷம்)” என்று எழுதப்பட்டிருப்பதால், இப்பகுதியில் பாளையப்பட்டு அல்லது அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக வந்த சிறு மண்டலத் தலைவர்களின் ஆளுகை இருந்திருக்கவேண்டும் என்பதும், அத்தகைய ஒரு மண்டலத் தலைவரான மலை மண்டலத்தலைவரால் இக்கோயிலின் கோபுர வாயில் மண்டபம் கி.பி. 1740 – ஆம் ஆண்டில் கட்டப்பட்டிருக்கவேண்டும் என்பதும் நாம் அறிய வரும் செய்தியாகும். இதன் காரணமாகவே, இக்கோயில், ‘மலைமண்டலப் பெருமாள் கோயில்’ என்னும் பெயரைபெற்றது எனலாம். இந்த மலைமண்டலத்தலைவர் யார் என்பது ஆய்வுக்குரியது.

நிறைவேற்றப்பட்டது எனக்குறிப்பிட்டுள்ளதால், மலைமண்டலசுவாமி என்பது

ஆட்சிப்பொறுப்பிலிருந்த தலைவர் எவரையும் குறிக்கவில்லை என்றும் கடவுளையே

தமிழ்ப் பகுதியில் ”மலைமண்டல சுவாமியார்” என்றிருத்தலாலே ஏதோ துறவி தொடர்பாக

இப்பெருமாள் கோவில் சதுரான(ன)பட்டினத்தில் ஏற்பட்டது எனக் கருதுகிறேன்.

கடவுளாக இருப்பின் மலைமண்டலப் பெருமாள், மலைமண்டல உடையார்/ஸ்வாமி என்றிருக்கும்.

சுபாமியார் என்பதால் இது ஓர் புகழ்பெற்ற துறவி என்பதற்கு வாய்ப்புகள் மிகுதி.

இந்த ஊர்களைப் பற்றிய கல்வெட்டு விஜயநகர் ஆரம்பகாலத்தில் கிருஷ்ணகிரி

பெண்ணேஸ்வர மடத்தில் கிடைக்கிறது. எனவே மலை மண்டலம் என்பது

மேற்குத் தொடர்ச்சி மலைப்பகுதி. அங்கிருந்து வந்த சாமியார் ஒருவர் ஏற்படுத்தியது

இக்கோயில் என நினைக்க வேண்டியுள்ளது.

சைவத்தில் சதுரானன பண்டிதர் இங்கே வாழ்ந்துள்ளார். ராஜேந்திரசோழ மகாராசாவின்

குரு. அவர் திருவொற்றியூர்க் கல்வெட்டுகளில் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறார்.

கிருஷ்ணகிரி பெண்ணேசுவர மடத்துக் கல்வெட்டில் சதிரானபட்டணம்

என்று குறிப்பிடப்படும் இவ்வூர் சதுரானன பண்டிதர் பெயரால் சோழர்கள் எடுத்தது.

பேச்சுவாக்கில் சதிரான பட்டினம் என்றும். 18-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டில் சதிராஸ், ஸத்ராஸ்

என்றும், அதிலிருந்து சதுரங்கபட்டினம் என்றும் பெயர்கள் மாறியுள்ளன.

சதுரானன பட்டினத்தில் சிவன்கோயில் சதுரானன பண்டிதராலும்,

மலைமண்டலப் பெருமாள் கோவில் கல்வெட்டில் குறிப்பிடப்பெறும்

மலை மண்டல சாமியாராலும் ஏற்பட்டிருக்கவேண்டும்.

மூதரையன்/முத்தரையன் தொடர்பு மாதரசன் பட்டினம் என ராயபுரம் பகுதி

அழைக்கப்பட்டதால் அறியலாகும். மூதி என்றால் இழிந்தசொல். எனவே

முதிராஜா/மூதிராஜா என்ற பெயர் காலப்போக்கில் மாதரசன் என மாறியுள்ளது.

மூதி - மூதேவி. வழிபாட்டில் சீதேவியுடன் இருந்த தவ்வை மறக்கப்பட்டுவிட்டாள்.

ஆனால், மூதி என்ற பெயரில் இருக்கிறாள். எனவே தான் மூதரசன்பட்டினம்

சேனாவரையர் 228ஆம் நூற்பாஉரையில் செய்யூ என்பது செய்யா எனத்திரிந்தும்
வரும் என்று குறிப்பிட்டதனாலும், நச்சினார்க்கினியரும் செய்யூ என்பதனை அடுத்துச்
செய்யா என்பதனைத் தொல்காப்பிய நூற்பாவின் (தொல்.222) எடுத்துக்காட்டோடு
விளக்கியமையானும் இவ்வாசிரியர் தாம் எடுத்துக்கொண்ட நன்னூல்நூற்பாவினைத்
தொல்காப்பிய உரையாளர் மரபிற்கேற்பச் சிறிது மொழிமாற்றிச் ‘செய்து செய்யூச்
செய்யாச் செய்பு’ என அமைத்தார்.

செய்து- செய்யூ- செய்யா- செய்பு- செய்தென- என்பன இறந்தகாலமும், செய
என்பது நிகழ்காலமும், செயின்- செய்யிய- செய்யியர்- செய்வான்- செய்பான்-

‘ஊ > ஆ’ மாற்றமும் அதனால் விளைந்த மாற்றமும்

உயிர் மயக்கங்கள் வழக்கினின்று மறைந்த பின்னர், அருகிய வழக்குடைய ஊகார இறுதியை உடைய ‘செய்யூ’ என்னும் இறந்தகால வடிவம் ‘செய்யா’ என்றாகிறது;⁵ ஏனெனில் ஆகாரமே இத்தகைய இடங்களில் மிகுதியும் வரும் உயிராகும். இது ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட போக்கினைப் பின்பற்றும் முறையேயன்றி ஒலிமாற்றமன்று. ‘செய்யூஉ ~ செய்யூ’ என்பது ‘தழூஉ’ (தொழிற்பெயர்) என்பதோடு ஒப்பிடத்தக்கதாகும். தொடக்கத்தில் இது உண்மையில் பெயர்ப் பயனிலையாக இருந்திருக்கலாம். ‘செய்து’ என்பதின் மாற்றான ‘செய்யூ’ என்பது ‘செய் + உ’ என்றும் இருக்கலாம். இங்குச் சொல்லாக்க விகுதியான உகரம் துகரத்தின் மாற்றாக இருக்கலாம். ‘கண்டு’ என்பது ‘செய்து’ என்னும் வாய்பாட்டு வடிவமாகும். ‘காணூஉ’ என்பது ‘செய்யூஉ’ என்னும் வாய்பாட்டு வடிவமாகும். இத்தகைய வேறுபாடுகள் சிலவற்றில் காணப்பெறுகின்றன.

கண்மணி, நீங்கள் குறிப்பிடும் மாடக்கோயில் கொண்ட மாடசாமி, சுடலை மாடசாமி சிவனைக் குறிக்கும் என்பதெல்லாம் இக்காலத்தில் யாரும் அறியார் போலும்.

'மாடன்' என்றால் 'மாடு' என்றுதான் மக்கள் பொருள் கொள்கிறார்கள்.

அத்துடன் 'தளவாய்' என்பதன் பொருளும் 'படைத்தலைவர்' என்று அறியாதோர் பலர் இருப்பதும் தெரிகிறது.

மூத்தகுடி மன்னர்கள் என்ற முத்தரையர்களைக் குறிப்பிடுவதற்காக

சமஸ்கிருத பகுதியில் "விருத்த ராஜா" என்றும்

கன்னடத்தில் கூறும் போது "கொங்கணி முத்தரசரு" என்று கூறுகிறான் என்று காட்டுகிறார்.

இது செப்பேட்டு/தொல்லியல் சான்று.

முத்தரையர் > முத்தரசர் என்றுதான் அழைக்கப்படுவதாகச் செப்பேட்டுச் செய்தி குறிப்பிடுகிறது. இது ஆறாம் நூற்றாண்டிலேயே மாறிவிட்டிருக்கிறது.

இதையேதான் டாக்டர் ரா. பி. சேதுப்பிள்ளை யும் முத்தரையர் > முத்தரசர் என்று விளக்கியுள்ளார்

அதற்கு 3 ஊர்ப் பெயர்களையும் எடுத்துக்காட்டு கொடுத்துள்ளார்.

ஆகவே முத்தரையர் > முத்தரசர் என்ற மாற்றம்தான் பதிவாகியுள்ளது தெரிகிறது.

முத்தரையர் > மாதரசர் என்பதைவிட அது வேறு ஒரு பெயரின் மருவிய வடிவாகவே என்னால் உணர முடிகிறது.

இந்தக் கருத்தை ......மாடக்கோயிலில் எழுந்தருளிய சாமி மாடசாமி ......கருத்தரங்கில் கூறிய போது ஏற்பட்ட கொந்தளிப்பை என்னால் என்றும் மறக்க முடியாது. நான் செய்த ஆய்வு மானிடப் பெயராய்வு......அப்படி ஆய்வு செய்யவே கூடாது என்பது போல் நாட்டார் வழக்காற்றியல் மாணவர்கள் எல்லோரும் ......பார்வையாலேயே என்னைச் சுட்டெரித்துத் தான் அனுப்பினர். புதிதாக ஒரு கோணத்தைச் சொன்னால் அதை ஏற்க எவ்வளவு தயங்குகிறார்கள் என்பதை அன்று நான் கண்கூடாகக் கண்டேன். இத்தனைக்கும் புணர்ச்சி விதிகளை எடுத்துச் சொன்னேன். அதைக் காது கொடுத்துக் கேட்கக் கூட யாரும் தயாராக இல்லை. ஏனென்றால் நாட்டார் தெய்வங்கள் மக்களின் பண்பாட்டுக் கூறுகளாகி விட்டன. அதை எதிர்த்து எந்தக் கருத்து கூறினாலும் அது அவர்களது நாகரிகத்தைத் திசை திருப்புவதாக எண்ணுகின்றனர்.

மாடு +சாமி =மாட்டுச்சாமி என்று தான் புணரும்.

மாடம்+சாமி தான் மாடசாமி ஆகும்.

மாடரசர் என்று அரச குலம் கர்நாடகாவில் இருக்கிறதா என்று பார்த்தால் அப்படி ஒருவரும் காணவில்லை.

துற- (துறத்து) என்ற தாது தூற்று என்ற சொல் தந்துள்ளது. (shuurpa - முறத்தின் பெயர், த/ச மாறுபாடு என்பர் வடமொழிநூலார்).

தூற்றுக்கோல் - குதிரையைத் துறத்தும் கோல். இது தாற்றுக்கோல் என்று வழங்கும். பேச்சில் தாற்குச்சி என மாட்டுவண்டிகளில் கேட்கிறோம்.

மொழி முதலெழுத்தில் ஊகாரம் ஆகாரம் ஆதலுக்கு முக்கியச் சான்று.

மூது- என்ற சங்க இலக்கியகாலத்தில் வழங்கிய சொல் மூதரையன் > மாதரையன். மூதுராஜா > முதுராஜா/முதிராஜா என்று பரவலாக

பூகு பாகு என்பவை கூட வேறு வேறானவை தான். பூகபீடம் = எச்சிற்போணி. ”பூவெனத் துப்பினான்” என்று சொல்கிறோமே? பூ என்பது ஒலிக்குறிப்பு. பூதல்>பூகுதல் என்பது எச்சில் துப்புதல். வெற்றிலை பாக்குப் போட்டு எச்சில் துப்புதல். அது பின்னால் பாக்கிற்கும் பழகியது போலும். வெற்றிலை போடுவதிற் கிடைக்கும் துவர்ப்புச் சுவை/மணம் அதன் பாக்கில் உள்ளது. விலையுயர்ந்த “பீடா”க்கள் போடும்போது சுவைகூட்ட இன்னும் சிறப்பான மணம்/சுவை கூட்டிய பாக்கையே பயனுறுத்துவர். வெற்றிலையில் சுவை ஒன்றுமில்லை. சுண்ணத்தோடு சேர்ந்து சிவப்பு நிறம் உருவாக்க மட்டுமே அது பயனுறும்.

பூக்கம், பூகம் என்றாலும் பாக்கு மரம். பூகு>பாகு>பாக்கு ஆனதென்றால் பூக்கம் எப்படி? பூகபீடத்தை எப்படி இவற்றோடு பொருத்துவது? பூகு>பாகு என்று சொல்லப்படும் திரிவு காக்கை உட்காரப் பனம்பழம் விழுந்த கதையாய்த் தெரிகிறது.

நான் புரிந்துகொண்டவரை பூகும் பாகும் ஒரே பொருளைக் குறிக்கும் இருவேரூ சொற்கள். அவற்றிற்கிடையே சொற்பிறப்பியல் தொடர்பு தெரியவில்லை.

அங்குசம், தோட்டி ,தார்க்குச்சி முதலியவை பொலி தூற்றுவதுடன் எப்படித் தொடர்புடையன?

முன்னவை மூன்றும் ஒரு குச்சியாக இருக்கக்கூடியவை.

பொலி தூற்றுவது என்பது காற்றின் திசையைப் பார்த்து சுளகிலிருந்து தூற்றுவது.

என்ன பொருள் பொருத்தம் ?

தூற்றுக்கோல் என்ற சொல் நான் பார்த்த எந்த அகரமுதலியிலும் இல்லை. தூற்றுதல் என்பதற்குக் குத்தல் என்ற பொருளுங் கிடையாது. தூற்றுக்கோல் என்பது எங்கு ஆளப்பட்டுள்ளது?

பூகத் தோப்பில் பாருங்கள். பூகு/பூகம் : ஓர் உவமையாகுபெயர். பாக்குக்குலைகள் பூச்செண்டு, பூமாலை போலத் தொங்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்.

பூகம் ’பூங்கொடி வந்தாள்’ என்பதுபோல ஓர் உவமையாகுபெயர். பூகு/பூக மிகப் பழைய பெயர். தமிழில் இருந்து வடமொழி வாங்கிக்கொண்ட பெயர்.

பூக- > போக- என்பது தெலுங்கு, இன்னும் வடக்கே உள்ள த்ராவிட பாஷைகளில். தமிழிலே தூற்றி தோற்றி என்றாகி தோட்டி (அங்குசம்) ஆதற்போல.

தூற்று- > தாற்று- (to winnow, to chase away animals like elephants, oxen).

நுகிர் > உகிர். நுகு- : மேலே பொருந்துதல்: நுகிரு > உகிரு > உசிரு > உயிர்.

நுகம் > நகம். சூர்ப்பணகை = சூர்ப்பம் + நகா. முறம்போன்ற நகமுடையாள். இராமனை மயக்க வந்த அரக்கி (வால்மீகி, கம்பன்).

தூற்று- என்ற சொல் சகரம் ஆகியுள்ளது (தோகை > சோகை ஜோக் ஃபால்ஸ், கர்நாடகா) > சூர்ப்பம்

துற- என்னும் தாது தூற்று- என்றாகி, ஶூர்ப்பம் (= முறம்) என்ற சொல்லை சிந்துவெளி த்ராவிட மொழி சம்ஸ்கிருதத்திற்கு அளித்த கொடையாகும்.
