TheBest of Enemies is a 2019 American drama film directed and written by Robin Bissell in his feature debut. It is based on the book The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South by Osha Gray Davidson, which focuses on the rivalry between civil rights activist Ann Atwater and Ku Klux Klan leader C. P. Ellis. The film stars Taraji P. Henson, Sam Rockwell, Babou Ceesay, Anne Heche, Wes Bentley, Bruce McGill, John Gallagher Jr., and Nick Searcy. It was released in the United States on April 5, 2019, by STX Entertainment.

In 1971 in Durham, North Carolina, Ann Atwater tries to get better housing conditions for poor black people, and is ignored by the all-white judge panel. C.P. is the president of the KKK, and cares for his children. Ann's daughter's school catches on fire, and C.P. is afraid that the black children will come to the white schools. Bill Riddick sets up a meeting with them both, to arrange charrettes to discuss segregation and other issues.

They agree to pick some people randomly from the group to vote on the issues at the end of the meeting sessions. C.P tries to talk to these selected to vote, but is rebuffed. A black reverend asks Bill if he can play gospel music at the end of each session. C.P. refuses, saying that if the Black people want to sing gospel music at the charrette, he should be allowed to put out his KKK items on display. Ann refuses, but Bill agrees.

Bill insists Black and White people in their group sit next to each other in the cafeteria as they eat. He makes C.P and Ann sit together alone. They eat in tense silence, then she asks him if he has a boy in Murdock. C.P. refuses to talk about his son. Murdock is a facility for disabled boys, and his son has Down Syndrome.

C.P. rushes to Murdock, as his son Larry has been put in the same room with another boy who is screaming, upsetting Larry. C.P. demands that his son be placed in a room of his own, but the nurses say he can't afford it. Ann visits Larry and convinces Bernadette, who works there, to put him in his own room.

Bill takes Ann, C.P., and the rest of their group to visit the black school that was burned. C.P. is shocked by the damage. Ann's daughter says hi to Ann, but gives C.P the evil eye when she realises who he is. C.P.'s wife Mary, overjoyed with Ann's help, goes to thank her. Ann is told that C.P. has always been racist.

The night before the final vote, C.P.'s KKK troublemaking friends threaten the selected voters to vote for segregation. When C.P. finds out, he is dismayed. When Ann hears about it, she screams at C.P., calling him a coward.

During the voting, all the issues pass, coming down to the final issue of desegregation. The voters give their vote one by one. Ann votes for it, and C.P. surprises everyone by doing the same, realizing the KKK is hateful. He also makes a speech and rips up his KKK membership card, to the fury of his watching KKK friends. They threaten him and try to set fire to his gas station but C.P. douses it. The white community shuns and boycots his station. Ann and Bill bring in the black community to buy from him instead.

In June 2015, it was announced that Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell would star in a civil rights drama, an adaptation of Osha Gray Davidson's history The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South. Robin Bissell was attached to make his directorial debut from his own script.[3] Filming began on May 22, 2017, in Georgia.[4] In July 2018, STX Entertainment acquired the film's domestic distribution rights.[5] Producers on the film were Danny Strong, Fred Bernstein, Matt Berenson, Bissell, Dominique Telson, and Material Pictures' Tobey Maguire and Matthew Plouffe.[6] The trailer was released on October 11, 2018.[7]

On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 53% based on 79 reviews, with an average rating of 6/10. The website's critical consensus reads, "The Best of Enemies has the best of intentions, but they're derailed by a problematic perspective and a disappointing lack of insight."[12] On Metacritic, the film has a score of 49 out of 100, based on 25 critics, indicating "mixed or average reviews".[13] Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of "A" on an A+ to F scale, while those at PostTrak gave it an overall positive score of 82% and a "definite recommend" of 70%.[10]

Probably this topic has been discussed several times and I just can't find it. Can someone steer me in the right direction, or directly recommend which settings will give you the best results in enemy detection?

What made spotting easier for me was really adjusting the Monitor settings (brightness, color, contrast etc.). I did it in Quick Mission when having an enemy at around 8k away and then pausing the game. Then tweak the monitor settings.

Doesn't selecting Advanced settings in the nVidia control panel negate any other settings? I always thought that was the purpose of the screen where you choose specific settings. In your screen shot, the Quality tab is grayed out. To my mind that means your graphics card isn't seeing it.

As to turning off VSync, it has been mentioned many times that induces screen tearing. A better option for me has been to use the "Fast" setting in the nVidia panel and turning it off in the BoX game settings.

Therion, I checked my settings and compared them with yours. It seems we not only have similar hardware but also similar graphics settings Unfortunately that means I could not further improve my settings.

I like the idea Livai posted above. For some reason it is for me way more difficult to spot enemies than it was in the old IL-2 or is in CloD. Worth to mention that I'm color blind (green/red) to some degree. This probably also has an impact....

I am trying to figure out the best body type to use for an enemy in-game. It will be most similar to the Geemers from Metroid, in that they move in a linear direction across whatever surface they are on, and after making contact with a wall, rotate themselves accordingly depending on the position they are moving in and what surface they are on. I am currently using a RigidBody2D for doing so, however this may not be the right type and I am considering using a basic Area2D with a hitbox, but I still have not found a way to reliably determine what side contact was made with.

In your case specifically, it sounds like using either an Area2D or a Kinematicbody2D along with some Raycast2D nodes (to detect when the enemy is near a wall, or vertically, if it is nearing an edge) will get you the behaviour you are looking for.

Might lean a little closer to Total Conversion, but Tango's Paradise is a personal favourite of mine, and very much feels like "Skillsaw does GZDoom". The new monsters rule, and the new weapons to combat them are equally awesome. The Diabolist is my personal favourite - an archvile that doesn't have line of site and forces you to keep moving rather than run and hide - but they're all winners in my book.

Brace yourselves- I had alot of free time and I wanted to type out the wads which have the most notable use of custom monsters (which I've played at least), how I feel about them and how they meshed with their respective wads...so I did so. If you wanna avoid spoilers, just peep the bolded wads and note them, cuz I'm gonna fill some lines here lol.

Valiant. Freaking fantastic wad with IMO the best custom roster ever. The super imp here is my fave variation of the imp in any wad- the two-shot fast projectiles actually makes it a credible threat lol. The kamikaze is the all-time GOAT custom monster IMO, with creating a whole new dynamic as far as facing meelee monsters go. The arachnorb is also extremely interesting as a monster in how it spawns from an existing arachnotron and as an additional flying monster (tho the wad does tend to overuse them). Cybruisers and Pyroknights are incredibly fresh takes on the Baron-skin, and I think the cybruiser is the best version of the now done-to-death variant of the monster. I really liked the super-vile final boss, tho personally I feel it could have been made to feel truly formidable (like the archviles from NoSp2 which can resurrect other archviles and boss monsters .-. ), tho then again skillsaw is a merciful deity so I guess I'm grateful for that :3

Ancient Aliens. Good wad, tho only one custom monster i.e. the Alien Guardian that really sticks in your head, tho partially (in my case) because of how another wad (Tarnsmans Projectile Hell) used them to be absolutely brutal. Like the stealth alien, even tho its just a much more forgiving version of Scythe 2s evil marine.

Heartland. Favorite wad of all time, tho admittedly because of how fucking good the gameplay is. The custom enemies are all good, but not Valiant level IMO. Cybruiser is there, the floating squid monster is serviceable tho annoying at times. Rocket zombie had one fantastic role in that freaking amazing bridge fight, but otherwise just serviceable. Kamikaze is the GOAT so obv points for using that.
