Are there few deliverables and dependencies, or many? For a simpler team project, we recommend using Planner. If you need to track dependencies, costs, or more complexity, Project works best. You can use Project desktop or Project for the web. You can see your Planner tasks, both individual and team, in the Tasks app in Teams, and you also see your Project for the web projects in Teams using the Project app in Teams.
The Project desktop application can be great for creating a schedule where you want to organize work into phases, have dependencies between tasks, and so on, either for oneself or for publishing to a team.
Some ask why the Planner development team have never created a Planner desktop app. A nice Planner mobile app is available and the browser app gets the job done without ever exciting the senses. I guess the reason why is down to two factors: first, resources available to create and support a desktop version across multiple OS (probably Windows 10/11 and macOS). Second, an easy workaround exists: install the Planner browser app as an app.
Figure 2 shows my Planner desktop app displaying the plan used by the Office 365 for IT Pros eBook team to track updates about new functionality and features posted in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Synchronizing message center notifications to become tasks in a target plan is an excellent way to keep track of changes within Microsoft 365.
Another workaround for guest access to Planner is to use the Tasks by Planner and To Do app in Teams. Given that Teams is a desktop app, using Tasks by Planner could be considered a Planner desktop app, if you wanted to stretch the point a tad.

One day randomly I placed down the city planner desk and it didn't generate a terminal or chair. It also stopped working in every other settlement I visited. The old ones that still had terminals (ie placed before this issue) just display for all the reports.

Desktop users should use the online Planner app by signing into your O365 account (Microsoft has not indicated if a desktop client will be available in the future).
