to Minnesota Honors Vietnam Era Veterans
U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar on Friday, Feb. 19 will formally present
service medals to a Minnesota Vietnam veteran who earned the awards
but never received them. The presentation will be at 10:30 a.m. at the
Dakota County Northern Service Center, 1 Mendota Road, Suite 420, West
Saint Paul.

Kim Zarbinski, of Eagan, served in the U.S. Army as a reconnaissance
soldier in Vietnam from April to October 1968. He received a
debilitating combat injury and spent nine months in a military
hospital. When he left the Army, he did not receive the service
medals that were due to him.

Several years ago, Zarbinski retired after a long career with the
Minnesota Department of Revenue. He sought assistance from the Dakota
County Veteran’s Service Office, which worked with the National
Personnel Records Center to correct his military service record so he
could receive the medals he had earned.

Sen. Klobuchar will present Zarbinski with the Purple Heart, the Army
Commendation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Vietnam Service
Medal with two bronze service stars.
