Combine-ing the Old and the New

How to move existing code to Apple’s new Combine framework. Grab a Guinness to celebrate St Patrick’s Day and join us.

With the popularity of SwiftUI, we are seeing a major paradigm shift away from the patterns and practices such as MVC and the Delegate patterns to new patterns such as MVVM, Reactive Programming, and more. In this talk, Leo talks about how to adapt to the new Combine Subscriber-Publishers patterns to old APIs such as CoreLocation and HealthKit and what are the major components of building a Publisher.
Jon has been developing for Apple devices since his first Mac Plus and Lightspeed C. Most of his career has been at Adobe where he worked on Image Ready and Lightroom among other products.

About the speaker:
Leo Dion is an independent developer running BrightDigit, a company which specializes in software development in the Apple space: iOS, macOS, and watchOS as well as server-side. He has almost 10 years of experience developing in iOS and has been developing in and blogging about Swift since day 1. He lives in Lansing Michigan with his wife Betsy and 5 kids and currently runs empowerapps.show, a podcast on Apple stuff, Swift and business.
