/*What the heck is an unconference?*/

* According to Wikipedia, an unconference
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unconference> is a "facilitated,
participant-driven conference centered around a theme or purpose."
Instead of speakers boring you behind a podium with more slides
than they can cover, everyone comes with certain experiences and
skills that we exchange through conversation. Think online social
networking in-person.

Pre-Conference Online Networking

A new Minnesota Voices Online community of practice
<http://e-democracy.org/mnvoices> is now open for Minnesotans (and
beyond) interested in using new media to tell the story of their
community, their community of interest or of Minnesota ( some examples
we've found <http://pages.e-democracy.org/Minnesota_citizen_media>).

Pre-conference discussions:

* Multiple modes of communication
<http://forums.e-democracy.org/groups/mnvoices/messages/topic/64Su107aNkKZjsQSaYUmJg>

* Challenges getting people engaged
<http://forums.e-democracy.org/groups/mnvoices/messages/topic/1h7w55yhe0JiODKazJJerz>

* New Media/Old Media
<http://forums.e-democracy.org/groups/mnvoices/messages/topic/2WFWPpiTgAmQ42FxcI5ncK>

More resources:

* Twitter - As the conference nears and during the event, we will
use the Twitter tag #mnvoices
<http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23mnvoices> to communicate.
Consider tweeting your conference plans with the link:
http://e-democracy.org/unconf

* Facebook - A companion Facebook group
<http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=62598819082> is
available.

* Delicious - View our list of site "tagged" mnvoices
<http://delicious.com/tag/mnvoices> and tag some yourself.

* The Wiki - This wiki page is a starting point for open planning
and engagement of the participants (formerly known as the
audience), and is totally editable by anyone.

Per our friends commenting at Perfect Duluth Day
<http://www.perfectduluthday.com/2009/02/25/attn-duluth-bloggers/> ...
you can shape this event. Please join the Minnesota Voices Online
community <http://e-democracy.org/mnvoices> for developing "un" context.

"Wikis" are new to lots of people. They allow anyone to edit a page or
offer value.

During the unconference, we will use the wiki in a semi-structured way
to take notes, collect links, and more.
