You may use the UID of each process to differentiate between user and system process.

Dear All,

anyone can help me in how i can differentiate between user and system process?
and where to look in order to to add the queue numbers (config.h has these values but for unknown reason i can not compile after changing these values)

Frankly, I am assigned to modify the schedule of MINIX to apply RR on user processes by adding 3 new queues and force all user processes into one of these new queues and then implement the RR policy
i will implement the RR in pick_ proc but i am really confused in how i can force all user process to start in one particular queue

while i am expecting some answers like go and solve your assignment or contact your supervisor, I am really still have the hope to get answered from someone who can provide general guide and some useful information in how to implement it.

Honestly, I am not looking for a solution in any meaning but i am running out of time and spending 12 hours everyday looking at and reading the code...I have read ch 2 for the minix 3 book (3 times)
i am not perfect in C (last time i used it 10 years ago) so learning C now is also consuming my time and put salt on the injury

all what i am looking for is some one tell me where to look and how to implement which help me in saving some time

i really appreciate your help ... again i am not looking for solution but i really need support which is legal.

  thanks
