Hi,

About one year ago I made a port of Minix to a MIPS 4K platform. It
was based on version 3.1.3a of Minix, but before the introduction of
the VM Server. I made it for fun, so the code is a not clean or enough
documented to be shared just now, but with some work I believe it is
possible to port it to the current version on SVN.
I also made some cool tools, like a remote gdbserver and a elf 2 aout
file format converter.
Anyone interested?

Rgs,
A

Cool!
Is a repository avaiable somewhere?
Don't care if the source code is not clean yet.

Hi,

The code now is higly a bit compromized with the dev. board I used.
I'm porting it to YAMS MIPS sim: http://www.niksula.hut.fi/~buenos/yams.html

Then will write a mini how to. Then I'll make it available somewhere.

The port is fully functional and very stable. For the moment, just
runing the ramfs (as there id no disk in my dev board).
It should be quite easy to port it to other embedded architectures.

Minix team, just wondering if this port could be used as a SoC
project?

Regards,
A

I think your project is very important for an OS which aims to be used
on embedded devices where the MIPS architecture is very common.

You should contact the Minix team directly.

Dude, the community has practically been screaming for developments
like this. gdbserver has even been discussed very recently on this
group if I'm not mistaken. I'll try to check out your code soon.

That's great news, Antonio.

I think we want to focus on getting ARM support merged before we take
on other ports, at least in the context of GSoC. Maybe you could work
with Maurits Dijkstra? He's working on the ARM port. You can probably
catch him on then IRC channel (#minix on Freenode).

Cara,

Obrigado.
