Hi,
sorry in advance for any uninformed questions, I have searched the
net, but couldn't find anything useful.....

I'm new to Minix and loving it so far. Only problem is that apparently
there is no internet browser in the repository. I tried to download
links from the minix webpage (using fetch url), but didn't work.

Any ideas?

I'm running Minix on VirtualBox to try it out and play around before I
install it on my netbook.

If I burnt the binary from the webpage on a CD, would it be readable
in Minix?

thanks,
cheers,
w

Qoute from the wiki:

Currently, only text-mode browsers are supported under MINIX 3.

Out of curiosity, are the web browsers captured in these images
[2,3,4] in text-mode? To me, they apper to be GUI already.

TIA,
Tibi

there is the browser called "links".
links is an improved version of lynx.
It can run in text- and GUI-Mode.
To start links in gui mode, after you had installed it, you must run in
X11 Terminal:
links -g http://www.google.de

it's somewhere in the middle of text-mode and full GUI. Some websites
can be seen almost as you would see them in firefox (for example the
links website ;)). Others aren't even close.....

but if you just need the information and don't care too much about the
layout, it's good enough.
