Hi All,

I just wanted to setup a new minix system (vmware) based on the latest
snapshot (20111118) available on the homepage and when trying to
install anything from pkgin I get the following:

pkgin: <package> is not available on the repository

E.g. in case of scmgit-base it starts complaining about gettext-lib
and continues with the rest in the dependency list like libidn, etc.

Any hints are welcome...

Regards,
r0ller

PS.: pkgin up was carried out successfully prior to any trial

Just a note here: since MINIX does not use shared libraries (for the
moment), those dependencies (both gettext-lib and libidn) are in fact
not needed (for the moment).

Hi Antoine,

Ok, but e.g. in case of bash, readline is also not available.

It works for me with the latest image
(minix3_2_0_ide_20111118_c24d15b2db.iso).

Mind trying to clean and update pkgin before trying to install Bash
again?

pkgin clean

pkgin -f update

pkgin install bash-2.05.2.7nb11

(I assume you're trying to install Bash 2, because Bash 4 doesn't need
Readline.)

If that doesn't work for you, would you mind posting the last
uncommented line of "/usr/pkg/etc/pkgin/repositories.conf"?

Hi pikpik,

Indeed I tried to install bash 2. Nevertheless, I didn't succeed in
doing so even the way you suggested. I simply get the same.
Furthermore, I don't think that I messed up anything in this case
since this is a fresh install of the image mentioned -not even any
packages have been installed yet.

The one and only uncommented line you're asking for is:
ftp://ftp.minix3.org/pub/minix/packages/$osrelease/$arch/All

Thanks for your help in advance!

Just to make things complete: I don't know if it has anything to do
with the new image (20111130) available on the homepage, but with that
I don't have the problem any more.
