Hi, I was trying our brand new MiniCAMs and miniDAQs but although the software can initially connect with the camera, it can't retrieve frames and it keep trying to reconnect to the miniCAM.  I was wondering if anyone managed to image with them so far and what setting are you using in you configuration file. I guess the device type should be 'Minicam-Mono-XGA', but it didn't worked for me (trying with 3 different camera, 2 miniDAQs, 2 different cables, and all possible USB ports on 2 different computers running v1.11).

Thanks

Hi,
Sorry for taking a while to get to your question. Are you still having issues?

With the most up-to-date DAQ firmware (which you have if you are using a MiniDAQ) and DAQ Software (v1.11) MiniCAMs are supported almost identically to regular Miniscopes. Are you able to connect to a Miniscope without issue using this exact setup but swapping out a Miniscope for a MiniCAM?

Actually I'm in contact with Frederico to work on it. I got it to work with the regular DAQ but not the miniDAQ.

Not yet, I'll send them back a miniDAQ for them to examine the issue.
Thanks

When you plug everything in does the LED on the MiniDAQ stay red or does it turn red + green? It seems like there might be a potential issue with the SMA connector on some MiniDAQ being slightly out of spec. When the SMA connector of the coax cable is screwed in all the way it might not fully make contact and cause power but not data to be transmitted. If the MiniDAQ's LED stays red, try slightly loosening the coax cable SMA and see if the led changes color.

Hi I was wondering if there has been any follow up on this? I have a very similar problem. Brand new MiniCAM 5MP, miniDAQv3.3 perfectly working with the miniscope, keeping all unchanged and just connecting the cam instead of the miniscope I can't retrieve frames and it keeps trying to reconnect. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the configuration file? I'm using Minicam-Mono-XGA as the device type.

Hi Luigi,
Just to make sure, are you using the newest version of the Miniscope DAQ firmware, https://github.com/Aharoni-Lab/Miniscope-DAQ-Cypress-firmware? Some older version of the firmware don't support the MiniCAM and would need to be updated.

Yes, I updated the firmare on both the miniDAQ v3.3 and v2.3 that I am using to test this (making sure I am matching versions to firmware).
Is it possible that I have a configuration json file problem? Is there an example of a json config file that should be working with a single miniCAM 5 MP (no miniscope)? I don't find it on github (looking at https://github.com/Aharoni-Lab/Miniscope-DAQ-QT-Software/tree/master/userConfigs).
Thank you very much for your help!

Hello Luigi. Can you upload the userConfig file that you are using?

Thank you

Federico

Luigi, can you connect you miniCam only and run the attached userConfig file?

Thank you very much! Using this script, and removing all devices but the one with the correct device id, it works with the DAQ v.3.3. I don't know what I was doing wrong, the file I've sent is actually un invalid json, so, I'm puzzled...

Anyway, now the issues are:
 - using this config, just keeping everything in place but switching the DAQ v3.3 with the DAQ v2.3 (new firmware) it still doesn't work, I get the issue displayed in the attached screenshot (note that this is different from the error that I get if I try to use a third DAQ, v2.3 that still has the old firmware, second screenshot attached). I only have v2.3 DAQs for controlling this cam unfortunately
- with the v3.3, I can now see the video, adjust parameters, and turn on the LEDs, but if I press record button it does not start (it just display a little gray bar in the button for less than a second, and then nothing happens and time does not start)

Any clue?

Thank you very much again for your help!

Hello Luigi. Just to confirm, did you install the " Miniscope_DAQ_128K_EEPROM.img" firmware on your v2.3 DAQs?
