Hi, I'm having trouble getting my Minicam to acquire frames through my DAQ v3.3.

  • DAQ Software v1.11
  • DAQ power + scope power lights are always on, data-link light comes on fine when plugging in
  • Tried multiple cables/cameras, same result
  • Windows sees it correctly as "Miniscope" but the preview is a blank grey square
  • Only the laptop's built-in webcam shows up as a Device ID option in the software

Sorry for the delayed response. We completely missed the notification from this message.

Can you try downloading and running our new, v2 version of the acquisition software, https://miniscope.org/wiki/Launch_of_Miniscope_DAQ_Software_v2.

It sounds like you tried all the initial things we would suggest. A few questions:
1. Had it worked previously?
2. What operating system are you using?
3. What is the exact device type you are setting in your user config for this?

I recently experienced a similar issue when I started using a new desktop. I finally fixed the issue by changing the setting shown in the picture (highlighted in red). Hope it works for you.

Best,
Pingping

thanks to all, now I'm "acquiring" images, but seeing this, , is an advance, maybe is something about configuration, if I pass the hand front of the camera the red area changes WhatsApp Image 2026-08-14 at 15.21.47.jpeg

Hello Iñaki. Just to rule out the chance of the userConfig file being wrong I suggest you create a new one using the interface. Here is how you do it:

1) Open the Miniscope DAQ software and click New:
1MDAQ.png

2) On the Devices menu, click Add Device:

2MDAQ.png

3) To add a MiniCAM, select a Camera in the category, Device type "Minicam-Mono-XGA" and choose the device on which the Miniscope DAQ is connected (in my case 1)

3MDAQ.png

Once everything is selected as above, click Ok. The name of the device is optional.

4) If everything was selected correctly, the MiniCAM should appear under the Devices menu:

4MDAQ.png
Hit run

5) If everything works, you should see the stream of the MiniCAM:

5MDAQ.png

Please let us know if this worked for you

Thank you

Federico

I created the config as federico said and is working perfectly, just to try which lense will be necesary for my setup and try to setup the saturation level so I get a nice image.
Thanks so much to everyone!
