Hi all,

I tried the "First Wireless Program" found on MinionCity.com. I can't get it to work.

I installed JeeLib into Arduino 1.0.3 and didn't have to do any modifications since the modification mentioned has been merged into the main branch.

The only modification I needed to do in the program was to change the frequency to 433Mhz (anyway I can verify that is what I got?). I also tried to change the myNodeId for one of the Minions.

  >screen /dev/cu.usbmodemfa121

gives me:

RF12B demo Receiver - Simple demo
  Node: 30 Freq: 433Mhz Network: 210

Anything I type comes out:

  hello

But no communication between the Minions whatsoever.

Do you know what might be wrong? Any help appreciated.

/ Hampus

It looks like the serial port is configured to a different speed from the one the minion uses. Check the sketch that you use and look at the Serial.begin line it will have the aerial port speed on the minion and adjust your host port to it.

Thanks for the suggestion Baruch, it however did no difference.

I've tried both
  screen /dev/cu.usbmodemfa121 9600
and
  minicom -b 9600 -D /dev/cu.usbmodemfa121

minicom looks even worse.

I don't know if it is baud rate related. It prints:
RF12B demo Receiver - Simple demo
  Node: 30 Freq: 433Mhz Network: 210

with no issue.

Did you update the Rx_NodeId value on at least one of the nodes? They need to have different values.

Yea. If I had paid closer attention to the code I'd seen that one needs to address the minion in particular using Rx_NodeId and MyNodeId.

The funny characters was because it tries to read/write two characters which messes things up on my machine.

I successfully used a modified version of the code with the keyboard library to perform a practical joke at work. Now to more useful projects.

Thanks Baruch.

I finally had a couple minutes of free time to work on getting my minions to communicate.  and it worked.  so cool.  I was able to use the sample code and downloaded Jeelib.h
after i set one of the programs to have a noteID of 10 it sent text to the other one. Now to figure out how to setup dual communication so i can provide feedback from one board to the other.
