I'm still investigating what is going on but one of my devices, seemingly without provocation has become totally unresponsive.

It appears it happened after a failed upload. After which the board no longer registered itself as a serial device.

I made an attempt to reflash the Arduino bootloader without success but that was before reading the "Updates and Design Files" post
mentioning the need for a pull-up resister. That will be my next attempt but curious if anyone else has seen the board fail in a similar
manner and if so was it recovered?

Thanks, Morgan.

I've made some progress on this. At this point I can program the Leonardo bootloader from the command line but I'm getting constant fuse bit verification errors (why the Arduino env won't burn the bootloader at all).

Here's the output from trying to burn the bootloader.

I had forgotten to mention this in my first post but something curious I'd notice early on was that the 3.3v out was also dead. As I turned more towards probing hardware looking for problems I finally found it. Blown fuse. Or at least a damaged one. Anywho... I stuck a penny in the socket* now its working again and I'm back on track for my project.

And for the curious I'm building bicycle sprint timing gates. Using dollar store laser pointers, photo diodes and some transistors. The plan is for a master/slave setup. The slave will be battery powered at the finish line. The master will be connected to my laptop. When a race is started the master will enable its laser. Once tripped the timer will start and it will signal the slave to enable its own laser. When the slave laser is tripped it will signal the master the race is over and return to standby mode (laser off).
I think I have everything I need so hopefully I will get it done in a week or two. I'll post again once I've started my build log.

* by penny in the socket I mean I just bridged F1 with a bit of wire.
