Just learned the hard way the easiest way to kill a Minion !

Simply overwrite the main() procedure ! :( Not good !!

Any ideas on how to fix this ?

Hi,

I assume you're using the Atmel Studio software to program your Minion. Have never used that, I do all my stuff with the Arduino IDE (which sucks, but haven't got the time to learn anything else just now). Can't you just re-flash the program again? Not really sure what the problem is, please post more details if you have them.

Your symptoms sound different to the mine, but that could just be because of my methods (running the Arduino IDE in Debian).  My Minion was well and truly corpse-like at any rate.

I managed to crash one of my Minions so that it would freeze when uploading a sketch, and not run any sketch at all (even the one I'd successfully uploaded previously).

After a bit of noodling around on the internet I discovered this was a common issue with this bootloader (which is also used on the LeoStick if you want to read up).

By replacing the bootloader with the one suggested I not only have a working Minion once again, but one that is much less likely to develop the same issue in the future.

I'm afraid I can't help with the method of updating the bootloader, since one of our more knowledgeable Hackerspace members did it for me.  He used a Mega, but I don't know which pins and program he used.  Should be a How-To or Guru that's more helpful.

Hope this is helpful, if not for you then someone else with a dear departed Minion.  Goodluck!
