What is nitk.edu.in?

nitk.edu.in basically a domain on the web that exists for NITK Surathkal as an educational institution much like the nitk.ac.in website. However, the major difference is that it runs on Google Apps.

• How will it benefit you? 
• As a student: Well, the second you have a registered username and password on nitk.edu.in, it will mean you have access to not only mail, but documents, calendars and sites within the NITK edu domain. Imagine course plans, test schedules, changes in timetable and test dates being reminded to you via email. Also, imagine connectivity with not only your class, but also your batch and everyone else on the nitk.edu.in domain. Asking your seniors for help on an Open Forum. Not just one or two, but all of them. Applying for projects and internships always is more professional using an institute ID. It leads to a sense of authentication and professionalism.

• As an alumnus: Well, the fact remains that we are leaving college. However, it is not just memories that one would want to take back. Being organized as a batch or as a class would be extremely important. However, you would not want NITK information spamming your gmail everyday, would you? Take a separate id and have all the information given to you in a separate account. Also, having some sort of a structure now will help even 15-20 years down the line, both for professional networking as well as personal. Also, information for convocation and other such important events can be done with this ID. If you also require documents such as transcripts, this would make it easier for those within campus to identify who you are. 
• So, how do I get one?

Simple really. Your class representative will send you a google document which has your roll no. and name, just fill in your e-mail ID and your edu ID in this format. Three letters...@nitk.edu.in

So mine is sid.0...@nitk.edu.in

Deadline to do so is Sunday, the 25th of May.
