I just tested a slightly used 12 gram 4 strand x 1/8" motor of the
June 2009 rubber to destruction and it broke at 2650 turns and 6.5 in.
oz. at 18 " wound length, within spitting distance of the Tan II
numbers shown at http://www.modelflight.com/rubber.html. I didn't
calculate the energy storage but it is supposedly better than previous
batches of Tan SS. It was also quite clean with little or no talc and
had only one bubble flaw (thin spot) in the 1/4 lb or so that I went
through today while making up motors. I pull it through my fingers at
3-4 times extension while inspecting with 3 diopter magnifying
glasses. In some previous batches it was hard to find clean 28 and 36
gram lengths to make Senator and Wren motors. The weight is close to
the typical value of 1 gm per foot.
