It seems like there ought to be a more central place to talk about key layouts. I came up with the Norman layout on my own after getting frustrated with trying other layouts. I hadn't even heard of Minimak till I had already thrown a ton of hours into my own layout and its website, and I thought I had been pretty thorough. Tonight, I introduced Norman to the Colemak forum and there's a guy (vjustin) that's posted comments in the Colemak, Norman, and Workman forums (that I know of).

I've done a bit of editing to the Keyboard layout wikipedia article to reference some "hobbyest" layouts, but that's a passing comment in a very long page. Maybe we'll just keep bouncing between each other's forums, but I doubt that'll last as we get settled into a layout.

I think as far as discussion goes, the Colemak forum is the best.  It's got the widest audience of knowledgable and interested folks.  Obviously there's a tilt toward a particular layout there, but I think if the goal is to constructively discuss good layout design as opposed to promotion, that's the best place to foster such a discussion.  I was thinking about doing so myself after spending some time with your analysis.

I think it would be difficult to attract the same audience to a different forum.

Cheers.
