Happy half-year month everyone! Ok this needs to be quick, because every minute I am not buried in code is a minute longer till we can get to Beta.
WHEN WILL THE BETA GO OUT?I don't know when exactly, but I think the Beta is really close to ready. Gamewise, we are where we need to be to launch the Beta.
WHAT IS TAKING SO LONG?A huge component of the back end systems (the profiles, server lists, accounts, messages, scores, stats, etc.) needs to be updated to modern frameworks. It's a lot of heads down, quiet work and that's what I am doing. The end effect will be NO CHANGE to the current system. Shortly after that, we will fix what's broken and launch the Beta.
<skip this if you don't want to know the tech details>
This server issue was a total surprise. Though we knew it could be an issue for the last five years, but if the old system wasn't broken, why fix it? Just add more and go! I worked on this after DA2 was being managed at Miniclip, but with no sense of urgency. Instead, I spent all my time updating the backend for Crash Cart v2.
While figuring out why Regions suddenly stopped working, I discovered that the HTTP client we're using is TOO OLD to pass security requirements on our service provider. It is REALLY old. The provider won't let it run on their production environment.
A long while ago (2012), I put this web server together for Crash Cart with zero knowledge and it worked well enough we could use it for DA2. We've slowly added more and more to it. Now we have to upgrade 10 year old server code to a 0 year old framework. What could go wrong!?
On top of that, the tech world is being turned on its head. I have a lawyer friend who suddenly lost access to all of their documents because a Microsoft suite was altered/updated. This was because MS wanted AI to be able to read docs faster. Google also just had their big dev conference and announced all kinds of changes too. We will likely lose support for the old versions of Android if they raise the minimum requirements again. It's crazy times in tech and it's affecting us and our game too.
<end of the extra tech details>When Beta hits, hang on to your helmets! We've got changes and new stuff to test and everything is going to need some balance testing. Rules and physics for new games and game items. When there are significant changes we will post more information. Until then, check out these charts. Based on our analytics of user counts, you all are enjoying what's here now. And we aren't even done! You guys PLAY A LOT! ;D

I hope it's because the game is getting better

Thank you all for your patience. We are blessed to have so many fans willing to stick this out with us. We understand how Alphas and Betas aren't for everyone!
