This tool allows you to build and test city plans without the limitations of trying this in-game. Perhaps you don't have enough expansions yet, or missing the right buildings at the right levels, or just lack the pre-requisite research.
There are many direct flights into Mexico City International Airport; officially Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Jurez. Major cities like San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles offer direct flights. For budget air, Volaris runs the best deals. I saw some also great flight deals on United and Delta. I use Skyscanner to find the best flight routes and deals.
Mexico City is practically a year-round destination. If you like the heat, then the spring to summer months are in your favor (May is the hottest month). Though the rainy season is technically June to September, the rain comes in waves. With mild winters, I love visiting in February and March.
For this trip, I had the chance to stay at two different hotels in different neighborhoods. The first was Las Alcobas in Polanco and the second was at the St Regis Mexico City on Paseo de la Reforma. Here is my take on the two:

A beautiful reprieve, this Italian restaurant is a favorite for me when it comes to unique dining. The space at Rosetta is as beautiful as the food tastes. Chef Elena Reygadas is doing something special here.
There are many day trips to be had in Mexico City. I always find that I end up staying in the city and wish I had. Some of the top ones include Teotihuacan, Puebla, Cacahuamilpa caves, and the floating gardens of Xochimilco.
Use Discover Cars or Rentalcars.com to find the best car rental deals. I recommend comparing rental agency reviews on Google to ensure you are booking with the best company in that destination, as the reviews are often more accurate than the car rental search engines.
I never leave the country without travel insurance. It provides comprehensive protection in case anything goes wrong (ie. illness, injury, theft, and cancelations, etc.). I use it frequently for my travels to stay protected.

Through a variety of collaborative sessions, programs, and resources, we educate mayors on city design and connect them with a diverse network of design leaders who help them overcome challenges and solve problems. As our program has proven, when we lead with design, we lead the way to purposeful, positive transformation in our communities.
We offer highly collaborative in-person sessions, fellowship programs, virtual learning, and more to educate on everything from historic building restoration to equitable development to neighborhood revitalization.
Institute Sessions are the core of MICD. At these collaborative workshops, mayors engage with design leaders to find solutions to the most critical planning and design challenges facing their cities. Sessions are organized around case study projects: Each mayor presents a project from their city and receives feedback from other mayors and design leaders.
Institute Sessions consist of hosting a site visit with the session host prior to the session, preparing a 15-minute presentation about the selected project, and leading the 2.5 day session. Mayors are expected to attend the entire session, as participation is extremely limited.
The MICD Just City Mayoral Fellowship is a unique, highly interactive, semester-long program that brings together a small group of mayors and their staff to directly tackle injustices in each of their cities through planning and design interventions.
MICD Just City Mayoral Fellows are selected based on an open call for expressions of interest in the months before the Fellowship begins. All U.S. mayors are eligible to express interest. Each cohort is curated with different themes, commonalities, and city sizes in mind. Selected mayors identify two key staff members to take part in the weekly classes and all virtual components of the Fellowship.
Virtual Seminars are engaging and interactive learning and discussion opportunities for small groups of mayors and city staff. Each one-hour seminar features a deep-dive presentation on a single timely topic from a design expert, followed by a moderated group discussion among the attending mayors and city staff.
Mayors hone in on a key question or issue that would most benefit from follow-up assistance. Once the Resource Team selection is made by MICD, the mayor and their staff will participate in two 60-minute virtual meetings to explore solutions and next steps.

By advancing equitable opportunities for arts participation and practice, the NEA fosters and sustains an environment in which the arts benefit everyone in the United States.
The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) is the official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more. There are nearly 1,400 such cities in the country today, and each city is represented in the Conference by its chief elected official, the mayor.
MICD responds to times of need with special programming. A special session of MICD was held for Gulf Coast cities to assist with recovery from Hurricane Katrina. In 2013, a similar session was held for New Jersey mayors following Superstorm Sandy.
MICD is a leadership initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the United States Conference of Mayors. Since 1986, MICD has helped transform communities through design by preparing mayors to be the chief urban designers of their cities.
City planners (also known as urban planners, municipal planners, land use planners, and urban designers) are responsible for the development and implementation of plans as approved by local and state authorities. They are also instrumental in making decisions and recommending policies that will determine the appropriate usage of land, buildings, facilities and infrastructures affecting and serving urban, rural and remote regions.
Your breadth of responsibilities will include but not be limited to reviewing development proposals, staying up to date with building codes and zoning laws, and keeping abreast of local activities affecting your industry. In addition to excellent communication and negotiating capabilities, you must have the ability to handle stress with grace and diplomacy. Typically, plenty of travel and working nights and weekends will be expected of you in this role.
Helpful Tip: You may want to consider a dual degree program, which will allow you to combine an urban planning degree with another graduate degree (such as law, business or even public policy). Upon graduation, this may improve your marketability when looking for work.
With more experience, a city planner has the ability to advance positions and make a salary of $85,903 per year. Other careers offered in the field of city planner can differ. Those with a specific concentration like an environmental planner or transportation planner have the opportunity to earn more. For example, environmental planners make a national average of $74,006 per year.
The Design Review Board (DRB) reviews projects for consistency with applicable business district design guidelines and approved master plans. The seven members are appointed by the City Council to four-year terms. The DRB meets regularly on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 7 PM in the City Council Chamber. It uses the professional staff services of the Planning and Building Department.
Public comment on general topics will be accepted during the Requests from the Audience portion of the meeting. Also, public comment will be accepted for each project after the DRB asks questions of the applicant. The Chair or Vice-Chair will announce when public comment will be heard. Written comments will be accepted by emailing the project planner associated with each project. More information can be found on the Public Comments Procedures page.
