Exitgames are tough to review. How do you review an escape room game without giving away some clues and riddles? I can tell you that this is very fun co-op game, and that I will keep my review spoiler free.
Exit Games are one-time use! They can only be played one single time. You will not be able give them to someone else when you are done. Why not? Because you will have to cut, fold, tear, and/or write on the game materials inside the box to solve the puzzles presented to you.
EXIT: The Game is a series of escape room games for playing at home. Players must solve riddles and puzzles and crack codes in order to escape from an imaginary room or environment. Each time you solve a riddle or puzzle, you will be one step closer to exiting the game. Games typically have about 10 unique puzzles to solve.
For added enjoyment, you can download the Kosmos Helper App from Google Play or the Apple App Store. The Kosmos Helper App will enhance The House of Riddles with a Tutorial, soundtrack, a timer, and a creepy voiced guy setting up the scenario for you. The Helper App also tells you how to set up the game on your table. The tutorial goes into a lot of detail explaining the game if this is your first time playing an Exit game.
If you are having any trouble solving a puzzle, each of the 10 riddles give you 3 clues to help you get back on track. So, if you are really stuck on a puzzles, you can get a hint or 2 or 3! The 3rd clue will essentially solve that particular riddle so you can move on.
As you are playing the game, you will use the decoder disk to point you to an Answer Card. The Answer Card will tell you if: 1) you can advance your way out of the House, or 2) if you are still stuck in that section.
When the game is over, you will be given a score from 1-10 stars based on: 1) How long it took you to Exit the House of Riddles, and 2) how many clue cards you used. The overall score does not really affect how much fun you will have playing the game.
I like the variety of puzzles in the game. Sometimes you are solving simple riddles. Sometimes you are playing with clues in drawings. Sometimes you are solving logic puzzles. Sometimes a player is doing Yoga poses while the other players watch. Sometimes you are cutting up the clue cards. Sometimes you are drawing pictures.
This is great co-op game. Everyone gets a chance to contribute their ideas to solving clues and riddles. And even though the game says 1-4 players, you could even bring in a couple of more players if you want. We played this game with 5 players and it was still enjoyable for everyone.
The House of Riddles difficulty is Level 2 out of 5. And if you look at the difficulty of all the Exit games above, there are no games with a difficulty of Level 1. So this actually is really one of the easier Exit Games. The House of Riddles is a good beginner game, and a great introduction into the series.
The key is the middle pillar. What you have to do is make sure that the middle pillar is OFF and that the ones connected to it are OFF (it has 4 connections) and the other pillars are ON. This way when you turn ON the middle pillar it will automatically turn ON 5 pillars at the same time (the 4 connected and itself).
From there it's simple. Once you have all the pillars off, hit every pillar that is NOT connected to the center pillar in a clockwise rotation. After that hit the center pillar and bam. The turret is on.
Quest is not lame, it's just a riddle (and lots of people today get frustrated by riddles, I get it, I was frustrated too ), its problem is that the reward should be much higher (it must be worth at least a pack of cigarettes if you know what I mean).
Forthing you're a freaking magician. I'm going to go back and give that a shot. It's funny to me to find another thread about how much this quest sucks since I just made one this afternoon. I felt very defeated and discouraged after giving the quest many hours of my time and having to give up in the end. I'll give your suggestion a shot and I'll send you 10 internets in the mail if it works.
Edit: Ok, now I can't get the f*cking lights off. /tableflip. I just realized how much I dislike this game. It feels very claustrophobic to me because of the way the camera works. The very fact that I can't pull my camera any farther than a couple feet from my character makes me feel like it's stuck in cement. This quest would be so much easier if lights stayed on and you could actually view the whole field. So many things about this game have been nagging me, and honestly, pandas are starting to look pretty good right now :S
Make a note of which towers are ON... not off - ON. Then ALT-TAB back to the Lights out Game in your browser, and set the game like that. Blue means on, Red means off. Click the edit button so you can click on a colored spot and change it.
It will give you a diagram telling you how many moves you need to make on each tower. Usually, it will be a single move on a few different towers. Once you have your solution (make a drawing and write it down) ALT-TAB back into TOR, and go to the towers that the java game told you to go to, and hit them whatever amount of times the game's solution tells you to hit them.
Once that happens, the turret should self activate. After this, right near the turret in a pool of green liquid, there should be a ship. Go into the ship and access the blue part and you should complete the mission.
Not only do you have other players with no clue running around hitting posts, but even if the other group understands, and (hypothetically) was willing to wait their turn, then you still have a multi-minute thumb twiddling for the second group while the first one solves it.
Also- if you are going to do puzzles, let it be of the type such as in WOW -where you have to remember a relatively easy sequence (like seeing red -green- blue- yellow sequence and having to repeat it correctly). rather than such puzzle where 98.9 % of the players starting the quest, are not in fact mathematical geeks or ppl with a higher-than average spacial intelligence and therefore need an online puzzle. Telling you Bioware- it was a total HASSLE having to quit out of the game - open browser- look up puzzle solver- make drawing- go back to tell your random mate you're still at it so pls bear with me- then finding another group just changed the F*****G config on the lights.
This is so badly implemented puzzle, that i am out of words. I don't mind a challenge, but at least dont hamper me artificially. The blinking lights force you each time you switch a light, to run out, so you gain perspective what has turned on and what off. Coupled with the sheer scale of the place, this makes the process of trial and error pure hell. Thanks, no need. I have better things to do than run around and stare at blinking lights.
Edward Nigma (エドワードニグマ, Edowādo Niguma), who was driven by a compulsive obsession for attention and desire to prove his intellect to the world, fashioned himself into the iconic villain known simply as Riddler (リドラー, Ridorā). Creating complex conundrums and death traps, Edward prides himself in watching his helpless victims fail to find solutions to his puzzles and meet with grim fates as he gloats over his superior intellect. Batman is the only person Edward has ever met with the intellect and abilities to not only solve his riddles, but outsmart him, a fact that also drives Edward further over the edge. Desiring to outsmart and humiliate Batman before killing him, Riddler makes it his top priority to come up with a puzzle that not even the Dark Knight Detective can solve.
"Are you ready for some more? Explore! Find my challenges. And when you fail to solve them and lie blubbering like an ignorant child on the floor, you will know that I, Riddler, is better than you."
With an obsessive need for attention, Edward Nigma is determined to be the most outlandish of Gotham City's criminals, concocting elaborate series of clues and riddles around his crimes. However, Batman has proven a worthy opponent, capable of deducing the Riddler's plans, but Edward is dedicated to creating a mystery the Dark Knight will not be able to solve in time.
As Enigma, he wore a purple vest with his GCPD tag on his neck. In his vest, was his white shirt and had a tie around his neck. He wore, on his left hand he wore two watches on his wrist. He wore dark green pants that had keys on his pants and brown shoes.
As Riddler, he had straggly hair, wore purple, fingerless gloves with covered question marks. He was also wearing his signature green business suit with yellow question marks, and on occasion, his green bowler hat, and has large goggles with green lenses. He also carries a cane, with a golden question mark shaped hook in his hand.
In this engaging game, logic and creativity will be required of you. As suggested by the name, you'll be creating a puzzle, but it won't just be a puzzle; instead, you'll be creating a transformer that can be broken down into several parts. For instance, the foundation of the transformer will be seen in the first round, but the legs, arms, and head must be added. You already have every necessary detail on the display. Now all you have to do is place them where they have already been marked on the screen. Transformers and riddles are only a small part of the game's appeal; the makers also attached great importance to the game's great graphics, sound effects, and other details.
