Open camera is taking a good 15 to 20 seconds to take a photo after I have clicked the button, and I can't figure out why. I am on a custom rom with android 10, but no camera API 2 support if that makes any difference. I have geotagging and level on (just display, not correcting the image),but turning them off doesn't change anything. Between the time I press the button and it takes, it first re-focuses the sits there.

Below are some of my learnings and tips for doing focus stacked photos with a smartphone and Open Camera app. I used the Android app, but the learnings should apply regardless of which smartphone app is used as long as it allows pro-mode controls and the camera hardware is reasonable. Open Camera does all that, plus has a special mode for focus stacking photography.

Do you need a special smartphone model?
Probably not, but with some caveats. You would certainly need a good camera app that lets you shoot in macro/manual/pro mode with some control on focussing distance, exposure etc. I found that many budget phones had budget camera apps that had fixed picture modes that did not allow much manual control. So I looked around and discovered this nice FOSS app Open Camera in Google play store. It allows a much greater control on manual mode settings, and most importantly, has a special mode for focus stacking photography.

Focus-stacking mode (the most important)
Self timer : 2 or 5 secs - to avoid jerky clicking.
Focus peaking - to clearly verify the focused portions of the object
3x3 guides - to help decide which areas to focus and how many shots per area
Exposure lock - when you focus on diff parts of the object the camera would meter the light and could change the exposure. So this lock helped.
Exposure compensation - for the usual reasons.
Manual focus - to manually focus camera on the selected portion of the object.
RAW / JPEG - both used. JPEG used more often.
Focus assist - ability to zoom in to the frame to check focus (Used optionally. Looks like presently it cannot span the frame for locating parts of frame for focussing.)

The OP appears to be operating on a Raspberry PI. Raspberry is moving to a new system to manage cameras, so when the user upgrades the OS via sudo apt-get upgrade the camera system gets the new library and the legacy camera system is disabled. To enable the legacy camera system again, try

A few days before the issue, I installed the motion library, but just to test something and I didn't use it anymore. The motion starts at boot, so the camera was being captured by the service. That's why only the unplug-plug worked.

The 0, 1, 2, etc digit we pass through the VideoCapture function is the device index given to the device from the os.As the device index is assigned by os, The number would be at random. So to find out the device index of your camera, in linux open command line

I used PyCharm rather than Anaconda. I couldn't figure out how to get Mac system to recognize the camera on Anaconda, but PyCharm, after running the code will ask for permission. Also, the opencv version for Anaconda is out of date and doesn't have some of the features of PyCharm.

though the saturation and tone curve seem to be better in open camera Google camera retains its superiority in detail and the ability to take a photo even when shaking. It also retains its ability to be modified so that you can change tone curves wavelets and shadows and all the curves that you can imagine including chroma denoise and luma denoise as well as patching in saturation and sharpness levels. I will be doing that later to make the saturation and sharpness levels match open camera so that I have the best of both worlds.

Google VERY MUCH pulls ahead at night. Which that just proves the power of processing and good software. The openCamera is great for people who dont have the capability to run the Google Camera (non Pixel series phones)

In photography, especially astro photography, is customary to take some pitch black images and pure white images in order to gauge the random noise your sensor in your camera is producing in order to remove it more effectively without letting generic algorithm figure that out.
So I was wondering if the PVC would be able to do such thing automatically when snapping a photo, given the required frames, through open camera.

Not anymore. I was checking if it was still in my thesis on CV, but looks like I axed it out in the end in favour or using a point cloud for my project instead of using 2D images (got to work with those fancy Intel cameras).

As you can see, it wasn't able to find the calibration file and so it changed to /dev/video0. The thing is, i don't even know why is he trying to look in "/home/cesar/.ros/camera_info/camera.yaml". I never specified that path, or any path. The file ".ros" in "/home/cesar" doesn't exist.

Camera calibration files are just configuration files that contain information on certain characteristics of your camera (the intrinsics). Those then allow other components to process images produced by that camera. See the camera_calibration page for some more background information.

Even without that file uvc_camera will publish images (if everything else is ok), but other nodes just will not know anything about your camera's intrinsics (and so will not be able to compensate for things like lens distortions). See #q256300 for a related question.

The node opened video0 because - just as in #q271685 - you forgot to prefix device with an underscore (_). Without that underscore, rosrun will interpret device as a topic name (used when remapping), not a parameter. See wiki/rosbash - rosrun where this is explained.

$HOME/.ros/camera_info/camera.yaml is just the default path and file that ROS camera drivers will look for camera calibration files, if you haven't provided it with a specific URL to override that location.

and that is 'normal', as you probably haven't calibrated your USB camera yet. You will want to do that though - once you get the node to start up. See the How to Calibrate a Monocular Camera tutorial for one way to do that.

I have the same problem. Seems to have happened on the update to EMUI 10 although possibly a firmware update of the watch itself - difficult to say. Have tried absolutely everything. Always happens when I open the camera app and have even installed an alternative camera app, but same problem. Sometimes happens when browsing as well, although less often. The disconnection is temporary but it will no doubt have impact on battery life and the notification is annoying.

Yes, the watch reconnects immediately after closing the camera app. I've been having troubles with my phone at the moment anyway, lots of crashing and glitches so maybe that is why this is happening for me. I checked software updates and there was one available for my watch so that's updating currently

Photo is the standard mode that you see when you open Camera . Use Photo mode to take still photos and Live Photos. Swipe left or right on the camera screen to choose one of the following camera modes:
