Hey guys, while setting up a single player world to test something out I generated this world which spawns you on a large island that is completely cut off from a mainland. The only land visible from the island is another smaller island from which you can then get to a much larger continent.

I remember someone mentioning a while ago that they were interested in setting up a civilisation and I have done it with a class last year, it works really well. This is a large island that would suit a class of 30 students because there is plenty of space to build.

Seed:

7598009774675632234

Enjoy!

Thanks Craig, I tried that seed. It has some nice little bays, but you do need to do a fair bit of earthmoving to get it ready for buildings.
Still, it's a nice little sandbox that could be great for my small class.

Another island map that is a bit bigger and has no land in sight is courtesy of Paul Soares Jr.  Use the seed "punchwood.com" (or -2005064210).  It is fairly flat with many trees, caves and some livestock (but no cows, but you could easily add some if needed).  He uses it for his Family Survival series that he plays with his wife and kids.

Do you have any lesson/curriculum plans that go along with the creating a civilization using MineCraftEDU?

I tried "Punchwood.com" and it didn't work well. I tried your number version and it worked great. A few animals spawned, mainly chickens but a few cows and sheep. Its the best island map I've found. It's hard to build a civilization when you have land forever expanding.
