Custom NPCs Weapons?

Help! I didn't realize that there were weapons for the Custom NPCs mod...is there a way to disable just that aspect?

If guns aren't disabled, you can disable them in the config file.

For the other items, I think the only thing you can do is hide them in the NEI (Not Enough Items mod) interface using Minetweaker scripts, if you have NEI installed.
If you are interested I can help you with this.

Maybe McEdu has some setting to blacklist certain items on the server, but I don't know for sure.

Hi Robijn,
I found this in the config file:

#Set to false if you want to disable guns
GunsEnabled=true


but it doesn't seem to work, even if updated on both the client/server. Is your experience different?

I did some further research and determined that this only disables the guns from firing. They will still show up in game or in the creative inventory.

I just tested this. These are my conclusions:
Michael Harvey is right; That config setting just disables them from firing.

I have thus far not found any way to disable the weapons from being visible in the "vanilla" creative menu.

I am trying to find out if NEI, MineTweaker and/or INPureCore can help out.

Hey Krista,

Are you talking about the guns? Minecraft itself also has weapons (swords and bows), which aren't any different mechanically from my weapons.
Though maybe a bit more oldfashioned.

As mentioned before the guns firing can be disabled in the config, this was an option requested by another teacher.

If that isnt enough let me know.

Hey Krista,

There are guns in CustomNPC...you can disable them from firing as the previous posters have mentioned. I am not a big fan of asking mod developers to change how they have made something work, if I can do something about it myself.

I get the feeling though that the problem is not the guns, or the firing...but rather you setting expectations for your students. I have been using this most amazing mod by Noppes for the past 4 years and I rarely have an issue with students and the guns.

First of all, let them play with them...and get it out of their system. Maybe show them how they can be used to accomplish in game goals. Once they have had a chance to play, it will get it out of their system. We all like to play with new things.

Next, the only time they can get the guns is to craft them, or you put them into creative mode and they take them. You need to set expectations of your students. If they are off task and playing with them, make it clear they are making a choice to not participate in the MC lessons. You would be surprised at how quickly it stops.

Finally, remind them that Minecraft at School is not the same as Minecarft at Home.
