Hi all,

I'm really intrigued by Kano OS and Minecraft. It looks like they've created a Scratch environment to code Minecraft creations. Has anyone used it? Anyone order the Kano?

Kano was a Kick Starter project that basically sends you a Raspberry Pi and externals with their own OS. You can grab their OS and manuals at their site as most of us likely have Raspberry Pi's.

My first thought was if it is running on Pi, it will be Pocket Edition (which it was) but wow, that interface is pretty cool, and very powerful. I wonder how many kids would 'get into' it and how many would feel like it was 'cheating' to build in MC that way. I unfortunately do not have a Pi, so if anyone has any further investigations please share your findings.

Elfie.

I downloaded Kano a few weeks ago and also purchased a  Pi.  I too thought this looked really interesting and I think some of my younger students might really get into this.  Now I just need to dig in and learn.  It is my first Pi!  :^) -Lisa

I'm still just playing around here and there with Kano. I think it would be a powerful way to connect minecraft with Scratch.
