Thanks Kulttuuri, I'll try to get over there this week and write about what Elfie and I have been doing when setting up the server for the Hangouts.

We are new to MinecraftEdu and getting ready for our first student setup in June. We are starting with the 1.5.1 Edu builds. We are looking into alot of robot, mechanics, physics, structures, etc functionaliy (sounds like Tekkit, eh), but have chosen to go with Edu for the 'control'. We will also be looking into alot of fun, young kids activities to do that are not techie, but might be problem solving or community building.

Just wanted to post to share that we have been able to get the following mods 'loaded' and will be testing for bugs.  Not sure who else is looking into or already using them.
Computer Craft
Cubebot
Zan mini-map
Dynamic Mazes
Bibliocraft
PowerCrystals Core
Industrial Craft
Chicken Bones
Not Enough Items
Mo' Creatures
CustomMobSpawner 1.12.2
Animal Bikes
GUI API 0.15.4-1.5.1
Custom NPCs

Others that we awaiting bug fixes or latest forge
====================================
BuildCraft
BukkitForge
Simple Book Spawn
RobotStaff
WorldGuard
Towny
Treasure Hunt
Jammy's Furniture
Galacticraft

Others that we will be trying to investigate
====================================
Pam's Harvest
Rail Craft
ExtrabiomesXL
Bucket Filler
Finite Liquid
WorldBorder
Faction
Warfare (trebuchets)
Camera Studio

Some of these may overlap and/or go away, but these are our starters....

Wow!  Amazing work.  I anxious to hear how that massive list of mods blends together.  I'm SURE there will be all kinds of bugs and weird interactions.  But that's not necessary a bad thing, as long as there is nothing game-stopping.  Mapping out the peculiarities of a unique world can be a lot of fun!  (if that makes sense...)

Thanks, Joel.  As much as I port though and am appreciative of the functionality,  I have to wonder that a full server side implementation with GUI only on the client would help with the speed.    When looking at existing mods you definitely have to weigh functionality versus performance.

Looking forward to the next dev build with the latest forge to check out BukkitForge and plugins....
