Now that I've had to do a new install on my server machine (see Mac vs PC issue post) I'm trying to get back a setting I had that removed the button for "regular" Minecraft so students ONLY see "Start Minecraft EDU" and NOT "Start Minecraft". Before updating, I changed the launchersettings.ini file and added the line:

disable-launcher-minecraft-button=true

However, when I did this, nothing changed. Any suggestions? Where is the line of code that I can disable buttons from being visible to students? It seems like none of the changes I'm making appear when I start MC Edu.

Thanks,
Joel S.

as pointed out by many others in the past -- I added this to my .ini file:

disable-launcher-top-menu=true
    disable-launcher-top-menu-file=true
    disable-launcher-top-menu-open=true
    disable-launcher-top-menu-settings=true
    disable-launcher-top-menu-change-language=true
    disable-launcher-minecraftedu-button=true
    disable-launcher-minecraft-button=true
    disable-launcher-minecraft-custom-button=true
    disable-launcher-servertool-button=true
    disable-launcher-updates-button=true
works perfect in 1.6.4

Wouldn't this line make the MCEdu launcher button disappear?
disable-launcher-minecraftedu-button=true

That should make the minecraftedu button disappear too. Check out our wiki for description of all these settings: http://services.minecraftedu.com/wiki/Launcher#Hiding_certain_parts_of_the_Launcher

Yes, Aleksi -- it actually makes everything, except for the minecraftedu button, disappear -- I wanted to repost that since it shows all the options and each teacher can tailor it to their own needs -- for me, I do not want my students to have access to folders or anything - only the EDU game.

Thanks for the information. I found Shane A.'s post about this same topic, and have copied his commands, which are mostly similar. Also added the "remove single player" button command. See below:

language=en
automatic-update-check=
minecraft-client-ram=1024
onlinemode=true
rememberpassword=false
disable-launcher-top-menu=true
disable-launcher-top-menu-file=true
disable-launcher-top-menu-open=true
disable-launcher-top-menu-settings=true
disable-launcher-top-menu-change-language=true
disable-launcher-minecraftedu-button=false
disable-launcher-minecraft-button=true
disable-launcher-minecraft-custom-button=true
disable-launcher-servertool-button=true
disable-launcher-updates-button=true

Disabling the single player button from the client main menu can be done with this:

 disable-sp=true

and this needs to go to minecraftedusettings.ini NOT launchersettings.ini.
You can find minecraftedusettings.ini from minecraftedu\minecraft\

Do I edit these commands from Server or do I need to get onto client computers to make these changes? For example : To hide Minecraft button.

This needs to be done on the client machines. What I have found to be the best way to deploy MinecraftEdu is to set up one client the way I want it, that is with all the tweaks to the launcher and mods and such, and then copy this to all the other client machines.
