Before I post in elfie's mod thread, it thought I would have someone else look at this. I tried version .0003 with no success. When I saw there was a new version, I thought I would try again. I have not yet put this in a vanilla forge MC, only EDU .09847. It keeps crashing. Any thoughts?

got it working with EDU. My location in alaska doesn't make it easy to watch YouTube videos due to bandwidth.

I had put the zip in the mod folder (made sense to me), but I needed to unzip it and place the fossil folder into the mod folder.

Very cool mod. Has great potential.

"Phase I of dinosaur riding has begun
- All dinosaurs are rideable now (Pterosaurs are fun!"

I don't need to read anything else. I'm in!

I'll be curious to hear what you think of the archaeology portion of the mod - how you find the fossils, if you have to be careful digging them out to not destroy them, are you able to reassemble them, is it intuitive to get DNA from the fossils to make real dinosaurs...you know, maybe I should just install it and try it out if I have time :)

The fossils are a stone block that has a slightly different texture.  They are fairly common.  They have various different drops.  One of the drops is Bio-Fossil.  One of the drops from the Bio_Fossil is a random dinosaur DNA "chip."  This chip can be put into a culture vat with some Bio-Fossil as "fuel" and it makes an egg.  The egg, when placed in the correct biome, and left to be warm will hatch.  The baby dino then needs proper food, and can grow.

Finding the DNA and making an egg doesn't have very good science.  There is an option for a DNA syringe.  I don't currently have the recipe.  :(  If I knew how to craft them, you can inject them into a pig, cow or sheep and the sheep will be impregnated with a dinosaur.  I like this option much more.

I was busy making the tutorial and the MC World, and didn't get to ride/tame a dinosaur yet, but it has great potential.

As a lesson, I created an NPC and "sold" students an enchanted diamond pick, analyzer, culture vat, dinopedia, night vision potions, torches and chicken stew for one dirt each.  This way they could focus on finding the fossils.
