Stopping Server

When I stop the Minecraft Server on my computer, all of my data is lost.  I can back into the saved world, but all of my inventory is gone and I'm back at the starting position. Do I have to save the map every time?  I'm worried to do this because I get an "overwrite" message when I go to save.  The server settings say that "auto save" is on, but I'm not sure why I keep losing my data..

Yes, you will need to save your world file each time before you shut the server down.  If you don't want to overwrite your original world, just change the name to something else (I usually just add a number or the date after the world name) and then save it.  Otherwise, just overwrite your original.

I save my worlds with a date stamp or something like EndWk1. But if you load last played world instead of loading a saved map you will also keep your inventory and position in the world. But that means you do not have a saved version of it to roll back to if things go wrong.

Hey Vincent, I've been to your school! My daughter went to a Techgirlz event there last summer, and played basketball against your seventh grade team this winter. I got pretty lost trying to find the gym :)

If you're interested in talking about some possible research partnerships between Springside and the researchers here at Temple, let me know, we're always looking for local schools to work with. And maybe we'll cross paths at some local events. 

I'm also trying to figure out some kind of Techgirlz/Minecraft event, but can't figure out what sort of technology transfer would be involved. I thought the Techgirlz community might be interested in a common Minecraft server to keep the girls in touch between events, but I'm not sure they meet often enough to foster that kind of relationship outside events.

It's always fun to cross paths with local people in a roundabout way. I was looking for YouTube links on Diane Main's channel yesterday and noticed she listed a town in New Jersey right next to the little town I grew up in. Small world :)
