I'm always asking stuff here, so I feel I owe you something in exchange hahaha. I've discovered this forum in which you can download different structures to open them in MCEdit and copy them in your own maps. There's a lot of different usefull things here, so I recommend you give it a try.

This is the link where are all the published schematics: http://www.mcschematics.com/index.php?board=33.0. The files you download are in ".schematic" extension, that you can open with MCEdit.

You'll need to sign up first to download the files, I think. But it's worth!

I hope you find it useful! See you!

I've used that site a lot... it's great!  And you can actually use those .schematic files with MinecraftEdu directly.  Just download them and drop them into: \minecraftedu\servertool\server\schematics  (you may have to create the schematics folder).

then load it with:
//schematic load FILENAME

and then //paste away!

Hi Joel.  Is there a way to create Schematics with MCEdu directly?

YES!

1. Select an area using the selection tool.  (the default is a stick)
2. //copy
3. //schematic save mce NAME  (the 'mce' refers to the format, in this case MCEdit compatible)

It will be saved in:
../minecraftedu/servertool/server/schematics

Wow, thank goodness.  Is that information listed anywhere within the program?  If not, it should be so folks will know.  Very useful.  Thank you!
PS. I'm working on a map for third graders involving data collection and graphing.  I'm also putting together a little mini-site where I'll catalog any other world files for MCedu that I find.

Hey Ashley,

I'm using MinecraftEDU 1.5.1 build 15 and I just built an entire town using schematics I had made from another world.

The files you download should go under minecraftedu/servertool/server/schematics

At least that is the default location. I'm not sure if it would help, but instead of creating the folder, go into a server map and just copy and save a schematic of anything...call it test, then it should create the folder for you in the proper place.

use the //schem load nameofschematic
then use paste to get it into the map

Hope this helped.

Shane
