Copy/Paste Chest Contents

Good morning all,

Another quick question. I'm currently running an area/volume project with students. Instead of opening up to creative I have some command blocks providing students with the objects that they're allowed to build with. Once finished with all their assignments, I'm providing students with furniture from the CustomNPCs and Bibliocraft mods to decorate their house and building areas.  I've been putting chests in their houses and filling them with items but it would be so much easier to just create one chest filled with items, copy it, and then paste it into their home instead of completing the process over and over and over (I have 20 classes I'm doing this with). I probably should've set up command blocks for these items when I initially created the world but that's something to learn for next year. Any suggestions on how to do this? Any search results have proved fruitless. Thanks!

If you're using a new enough build of MCEdu, you can do this with WorldEdit. You'll have to enable WE as a server mod which is easily done from the Online Mods section of the launcher. If you don't see it there, you'll need to update MCEdu to a new build, like 1.7.10 build 17 or higher. Once you have WE enabled and one chest ready for cloning, do the following:

Face the chest and type these commands into the chat:

//hpos1

//hpos2

//copy

Next, stand where you would like the new chest to appear and type

//paste

If you accidentally paste to the wrong area, you can type //undo

And this will copy all contents as well? I'm currently using 1.7.10, stable build 12. Tried with World Edit and it only pasted the chest. I'll probably wait until the next stable build comes out, which it sounded like it would soon, as it takes me a while to update all the computers in the lab but once I do and add the server mod on, it'll work?

Shawn, the pasting of chest contents is available in build 17 and up.  Mike had a typo which I have since edited in his post.

Thanks Matt. I was thinking build 12, but it's indeed only on 17+. An alternative if you don't want to update is to use MCEdit. That will copy over anything perfectly. The ones blocks I've found that it can't handle are MCEdu teleport/spawn/sign blocks.
