Hey guys,

I am in the process of creating an entire world for my year 9 and 10 IST elective course in the style of Eric's World of Humanities with some differences.

The idea is that this is a server that is saved after each lesson so that it becomes a persistent world. Using the MyTown mod I have created 30 building plots that students can have assigned to them. There are also some NPCs that will give out building resources as well as a basic currency that can be used to buy more specialised items.

I have used MyTown to disallow monsters in our town but have them active in the world. Because this is aimed at a year 9-10 age group (14-15 year olds) I wanted to make it interesting and challenging and as much like a MMORPG as I could. Hence the monsters...

Basically I will populate this world through out the next semester with tasks from our syllabus allowing students to wander through the world and complete and submit task using books & quills as I have mentioned before.

Students are rewarded for completing class work with coins that can be used to purchased more specialised items and areas like PVP arenas are possible (I believe) using the MyTown mod.

Since I have the basics almost complete and have not yet begun populating it with resources and tasks specific to my subject area, I am offering this blank template for anyone who would like to use it in a similar way. I believe that this style of learning can be used in any subject area, not just computing as it is an engagement tool which is not subject-specific. It would just rely on you to create your own tasks and resources that are specific to your area of study.

Would there be any interesting in me uploading this world when it's ready?

Sure why not? After all, posting a world is probably the easiest way to share good ideas.

Agree...you can feel free to post all the worlds you want Craig. :) I for one will definitely download them and check them out.

I am always interested to see how others have been using MinecraftEDU.
