Today we were discussing a possible in game economy, and I wanted to bring forward the Forge Essentials plugin. The following link goes to the files, and I'm nt too good with coding, so I quite know how they work. It is open source, so someone could potentially edit the code specifically for MinecraftEdu.

I moderate on a server that uses the Essentials plugin (except in bukkit, I think), And it has a lot of cool features that I think would be helpful. The link below has info on the features.

https://github.com/ForgeEssentials/ForgeEssentialsMain/wiki/FE-Modules

Chat Commands: these can be used by students to send private messages between players (these can all be logged, so that the teacher can read during or after the message is sent), The command is /whisper <player name> <message> or /tell <player name> <message>. This could be helpful if students are working in pairs, so that in game chat isn't cluttered, and chatter isn't too loud in the classroom.

Extra Commands: These are various commands that students can use, like /bed to teleport to the bed they have last slept in, or /kit, but most of these commands are used by the teacher. I think most of them are built into MinecraftEdu already.

Economy: I think this is one of the most useful features. It allows you to name your currency, gives each student their own "wallet" and allows students to buy, sell, and transfer money between each other with commands like /pay <player name> <amount>, and can be used with command blocks to create shops where students can trade one item for another or currency for an item.

Player Logger: This logs what each player places, so if for some reason one player completely griefs someone's house or builds something they aren't supposed to, you can rollback just one player's placements/removals and not punish the other students by rolling back the whole server.

Protection: This allows you to turn off specific mobs from spawning, so you can turn off cows for instance, or all peaceful mobs, if necessary. You can also turn off use of specific materials. So, for instance, you can make it so players are not allowed to place dirt.

There are some other world control and world border commands and such, but they are already included in WorldEdit, so they aren't really necessary. Also, again, I am not good with server related things, so I'm not sure if this would even work with MinecraftEdu, but I thought it looked useful :)

Hey,

There are a few people who have managed to get ForgeEssentials working, if you search the forum for essentials someone posted a step by step guide not too long ago.

My only problem is the permissions system clashes with the MyTown one and doesn't let anyone build, but once I get that sorted I am very keen to use it for its authentication module - password protect users.
