Issues with NPC wand, assistance appreciated.

Hello, I'm having some difficulties with the NPC wand.

I'm trying to have my class design interactive story maps with NPCs.

I built a Little Red Riding Hood story map at home with all the NPCs I could want - no problems there and used that as the example.

I created a new world I wanted the class to contribute to, saved it and copied it to the school server. Connected the school server to it and got the students to log in. When I went in to demonstrate how to make NPCs, the wand would simply disappear instead of making a character. If I try using the NPC wand as a student, the same thing happens.

I then tried it out on a flat world I quickly made and discovered that it seems to work as a teacher, but when a student tries to use the NPC wand they get kicked off the server. They can use the NPC wand on an existing NPC, but cannot use the NPC pather or the NPC cloner.

I got a server running on my MacBook to see if the probem was consistent, but on the MacBook, I can't use the NPC wand, regardless of whether I am a student or teacher (the wand just disappears when you try to use it.

I'm going to try getting a flat world going on the curriculum server to see how that goes, but the NPC wand definitely doesn't work with a server running on my MacBook.

Is this a known issue? Because I would really like my students to be able to add their own NPCs to the map - they are the spark that brings a story map to life.

Hey Tim,

Most of the issues you are mentioning usually stem from not having the mod on the server side, or the versions are not the same.

So it has to be on both the client side and the server side to work properly.

For the client, make sure the mod is under the mod folder you find within the minecraftedu/minecraft/

For the server, make sure the mod is in the folder you find at minecraftedu/servertools/server/mods

After checking my server installation on the curriculum server at school I discovered I hadn't installed the Custom NPCs mod after all.
I put the mod into servertool/server/mods and was able to use the NPC wand and pather as a teacher from a client.

I was not able to use the NPC wand as a student. I get kicked off the server with the message 'Disconnected by server, Lost connection, Internal server error'

I'm thinking of getting past this problem by adding the characters to the students' maps myself under their directions.
