Gormegil, Hurgin, Sonya and Deven set off before dawn on the Quest for the Altar of Light. They brought their best gear along with food and other supplies. They left their horses for this was to be a sea voyage.

They finished their chores, met along the docks, and all boarded the ship that Hurgin had built. They turned and looked back at the town as they sailed away, the Pillar of White visible in the sky over Iron Mountain.

Gormegil was the captain, Sonya was in the crow's nest, and Deven and Hurgin manned the deck. Gormegil had sailed these waters before and navigated amongst a series of islands along the shore.

The sea voyage was calm and uneventful, so the friends talked of past adventures as they traveled. Soon the Pillar of White grew closer and closer and the Altar of White came into view, atop a steep mountain.

The band disembarked, and now the real adventure began. Hurgin and Gormegil had landed on these shores before and left a series of fallen tree trunks to mark a landing spot. They turned to make sure they remembered where the boat was anchored, and headed into the thick wood.

After a few mis-steps they found their way up a narrow path to the top of the mountain. There was a wide grassy plain dotted with fantastic creatures including the mythical unicorn. The Altar of White was there, within reach, so they dashed towards it. Hurgin planted a banner of the Kingdom to commemorate the occasion.

The group fell silent for a moment, reach one reading the inscriptions on the tablet that described the gods. Deven and Gormegil chose gentle Fo, God of Gardens, Hurgin chose wise Vynora, Lady of the Water, and Sonya chose brave Magranon, God of Justice. Then each sank to their knees in prayer.

Quest completed, the group headed for home but not without a bit of adventure. Deven stopped to lure one of the unicorns with a tuft of grass but it became enraged and attacked him. The group killed it were able to carve its single horn as a trophy.

They returned to the ship, stopping along the way to investigate what looked like a tribe of goblins in a swamp. They killed many giant spiders along the shore. Gormegil spotted a troll and lured it out, which proved to be a fatal mistake. The troll slayed Gormegil and scatted the band. Hurgin managed to survive after plunging into a thick marsh but not before he was gravely wounded.

Sonya lured the troll away and treated Hurgin's wounds, Hurgin piloted the ship close to shore, and Deven lept into the shallow waters to drag the corpse of their companion back to the boat. The party sailed back into the port of Irontown just as the sun was setting after their day of adventure. They each prayed to their god as they laid themselves down to bed for the night.

Next time the party will investigate the mysterious Shimmering Light and the Quest of the Conch.
