Thisreport presents National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) data on hate crime victimizations from 2005 to 2019. Hate crimes in the NCVS include violent and property crimes that the victim perceived to be motivated by bias against the victim's race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or religion. It includes crimes reported and not reported to police. The report examines the number of hate crimes over time, characteristics of hate crimes, perceived bias motivations for these hate crimes, reporting to police and reasons hate crimes were not reported, and demographic characteristics of victims and offenders.
Several factors fueled the growth: resentment over the changing racial demographics of the country, frustration over the lagging economy, and the mainstreaming of conspiracy theories and other demonizing propaganda aimed at minorities and the government.
Mainstream politicians have promoted many of the ideas and conspiracy theories important to these groups. Last April, for example, Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed S.B. 1070, the harshest state anti-immigrant law in the country, setting off a flood of proposals for similar laws. State legislators also have offered proposals that would roll back birthright citizenship, bar judges from considering Islamic law in state courtrooms, institute an alternative currency, and even allow a state to disregard federal laws and regulations.
In an 11-day period this January, a neo-Nazi was arrested as he headed for the Arizona border with a dozen homemade grenades; a terrorist bomb attack on a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade in Spokane, Wash., was averted when police dismantled a sophisticated bomb; and a man who officials said had a long history of antigovernment activities was arrested in a car filled with explosives outside a packed mosque in Dearborn, Mich.
The hate groups listed in this report include neo-Nazis, white nationalists, neo-Confederates, racist skinheads, Klansmen and black separatists. Other hate groups on the list target gays or immigrants, and some specialize in producing racist music or propaganda denying the Holocaust.
Studying these hate incidents and making the data publicly accessible can contribute to a better understanding of anti-Asian racism, shape public policy and guide the activism of Asian American community organizations, she said. The Virulent Hate Project supports the work of Stop AAPI Hate and the Bridging Divides Initiative at Princeton University.
A new report (PDF) from the project focuses on the nature of anti-Asian racism reported by the news media in 2020. Forthcoming reports will analyze Asian American anti-racism activism and news media coverage.
that is true, i havent ventured past 400 dollar headphones unless you count the nighthawk carbon which i got for 300. and i thought those would be my favorite headphone for its bass which i love. but these destroy them with that punchy bass and tons of air. obviously not compared to maybe hifiman sundara which i havent tried sadly. maybe that where people are coming from. however these sound much more capable than the 4xx and i loved those cans and everyone said that are the best under 300 and if these are 400 i dont see the huge problem, the cable is nice the headband is nice and yeah you can tell they are no focal but i have no problems. i guess just not alot of people bought them on here only found 1 or 2 threads. just thought i would ask! @wagstaff
ah yes i see that now. they do have that warm maybe dark sound but then again i think the vocals have nice air and sparkle. however i can see there is probably a veil somewhere that im just not hearing since i dont have a 6xx series or sundara to compare. i think i just like dark mellow sound as long as it isnt too muddy which i dont hear but i could see that in a comparison to a great set of cans . i do have a slight bass EQ but thats what i do with all cans. i know sacrilege. @wagstaff
In my other comment to wagstaff yes i see what you are saying. they are very laid back and i could see the sundara having more life which would be nice, i suppose i respect the effortless power of these more than the clarity of other cans. i do see how maybe their is some veil over the mids and highs. but they do sound quite good to me. i actually thought something was wrong with them when listening to cowboy bebop sound track because of the breathing between notes which i had never heard before . so maybe they are muted in the upper range but thats enough detail for me that my nighthawks just couldnt do. thanks !
since i game mostly, and need the software and mic input i got the wait for it, lol creative g6 using as only a dac 32/384, going to liquid spark. which goes out to receiver for my jamo 803s and sub. which is nice because the g6 carries over crossover and EQ to the output . the G6 measured quite well compared to the name brands for distortion @FiCurious
Thanks! i will look into pads. the stock leather is comfortable and has good bass. also the suedes it comes with i havent tried but look comfortable. might remove some of the bass but might try them as well. dekoni is my go too for tips and pads so ill see what the consensus is on that. also i wasnt aware that the spark was dark, would you recommend the JDS labs amp over it? @FiCurious
I am really curious about these, but have not seen any used and there never seems to be any sales. Josh Valor said that they adapt well to EQ and I am wondering how they would match up with my Schiit Loki.
idk what headphones you have experience with but the only other planar ive heard is he 4xx and those with EQ were good however the bass would distort past 2 or 3 db at the low end. the 1070 takes much better to EQ due to the much larger driver and leather pads. especially low end. i couldnt imagine needing more bass , i have my 2 12" in my car for that. they slap hard and are super wide to me with nice air and the mids are only very slightly recessed. highs sound great no siblance . kinda a tube sound with my liquid spark very textured sounding what i imagine some lcd cans sound like. these are also the best cans ive heard with no EQ its the best EQ ive heard out of the box for me meaning darker sound and decent bass. most planars sound kinda reference and flat out of the box but these dont for me. @ShaneD Valors review is basically spot on for me
yeah figured i would start a thread. 400$? nah but on sale or used worth a try for that nice planar sound and the build that copies the audeze except for the headband but its better than any hifiman except the big ones. and you can switch that out very easily
If I had to compare off of memory, the M1060 has more bass and extends a bit lower, but the M1070 has a bit cleaner sound and detail retrieval . Personally Gruntslayer you do not really need to try out the previous model. Only if you are wanting more bass that extends a bit deeper. I would say for the most part the M1070 is overall better and a slightly different tuning.
thats what ive heard. however i did hear that you need to mod the 1060c for that to happen and i would rather get the more capable and resolving one out of the box and then mod if i want. the bass on these with the eq is RUMBLING down to like 25hz or so. (escape from LA- the weekend) like quality 12" sub in the living room , however some bass guitar john mayer songs do feel slightly flat i would say it extends well with an EQ. but yeah i think it is just odd that i heard so much about the 1060 and 1060c and then these came and nothing. there is like 2 reviews on youtube. there is like 1000 videos on the 1060 on youtube with mods and everyone loving them. so it just gave the impression they were totally trash and i was very surprised when i got them how much better they were than the he 4xx which everyone on here LOVES. and so do i for under 200 but for 250 these are a no brainer. however they like juice for that low freq and i dont think 200 milli amps or so are going to cut it. but thanks for explaining that part to me. makes sense. @gallappago
The Civil Rights Department says most incidents of hate happen at home, work or public places mainly involving race, ethnicity, gender identity and sexual orientation. Reports related to race and ethnicity pointed to Anti-Black, Anti-Latino and Anti-Asian bias.
"That is good news to us, that people who may not have had access to these types of services before are using them," said Kish. "But we're very alert to the fact that people only use resources that they know about, and resources that they trust."
Over the past 10 years, the Department of Justice has charged more than 200 defendants with hate crimes offenses. The Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr., Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 (HCPA) provided a valuable new tool in this effort. The Department has used the HCPA to indict 88 defendants in 42 hate crimes cases with 64 convictions to date. In FY 2016, the Department charged 27 defendants in 18 cases, obtaining 16 convictions. Since January 2017, the Department has indicted 32 defendants involved in committing hate crimes and secured convictions of 32 defendants for hate crimes incidents.

I begin my day next to a baseball scoreboard, beneath a gray sky and a sun just poking out through the marine layer that blankets the San Francisco Bay. I stretch my calves and hamstrings and simulate a few strides. I take a few deep breaths and expel them from my lungs.
I look around and I see John, Darren, Mike and Tommy, who are some of my white teammates, already out on the track. I smile and greet each of them as I set out for a 5-mile run beneath the gun towers on the lower yard at San Quentin State Prison.
As I take smooth, easy strides along the track, a strange irony enters my mind. I don't have to think about the things that other Black joggers think about. I don't have to worry about a checklist or the danger of running through a predominantly white residential neighborhood. I don't have to worry about whether I'm wearing the wrong clothes or looking too threatening. All the cops know me here, so I have no fear of being shot. I'm a man who has never experienced the discrimination that might come from running while Black.
