Hi All,
I hope you are finding a cool place to be this week. My bedroom is
currently looking like the place old air conditioners go to die. I've
got two dead ones in there right now but they are headed out to the
curb tonight. The shop is nice and cool, though!
Meanwhile, my first fall yarn arrived today in the form of Juniper
Moon Farms new line of luscious yarns. If you haven't heard about
Juniper Moon Farm, google them. They are wonderful people and the
blog is very entertaining.
So, the new yarns:
The first is Chadwick. This yarn is 60% merino/40% baby alpaca and
super soft. It is 202yds/185m in 100g. It knits at around 18sts/4"
on a US 8.
The next is Willa. It is 60% merino/40% super kid mohair. It has
153yds/140m in 100g. It knits at around 12sts/4" on a US 11.
The last is Findley. It is 50% merino/50% silk. It has 798yds/730m
in 100g. It knits at 30sts/4" on a US 2.
You'll have to come in and feel these yarns. They are just wonderful.
Each yarn has a book of patterns to go with it. There is a good
variety in the patterns and they look like fun. We've already cast on
a hat in Chadwick from it's book.
Also, for spinners, we have a very small amount of Drunkard's Dyelot
hand dyed roving. Sarah, who went off to graduate school last fall,
has been preparing for a year abroad and just found a small amount of
her hand dyed that she'd kept for herself. She doesn't want to store
it while she's gone so she's put it in the shop. She's calling it
Drunkard's Dyelot, Special Reserve and once it's gone, that's it for
the foreseeable future.
So, come by and see the new yarn and fiber. Also, the floors don't
look bad if I do say so myself!
Best,
Lucy
