Dear MindMup support,

I have several questions regarding Notes (comments added to the element):
  1. Is text from notes taken into account in 100kb limit for free users?
  2. Which export format allows to see note added to the element?
  3. Which export format allows to save note added to the element?
  4. Does the 100kb limit for free users apply to maps created with MindMup for Google Drive (and saved at Google Drive)?
  5. Are mindmaps saved to my Google Drive visible to anyone?
Thank you for your support!

Yes
  1. Which export format allows to see note added to the element?

File -> Download as -> Notes will download just the notes, in the order of your hierarchical structure of the map. This is great if you arr writing an essay and use the map for structure, but don't need the actual map hierarchy in the export.

File -> Download as -> Outline will download the hierarchical structure of the map, and you can optionally include the notes under each node.
  1. Which export format allows to save note added to the element?

The MindMup export format will save the notes as well, so you can re-import than,
  1. Does the 100kb limit for free users apply to maps created with MindMup for Google Drive (and saved at Google Drive)?

No, the limit on Google Drive is based on your account/contract with Google. MindMup can use whatever the maximum file size Google allows for you. Note that saving very large maps might take a lot of time, because unlike the MindMup cloud storage where we save individual changes, every time you save a map to Drive the entire content goes from your browser to the remote storage.
  1. Are mindmaps saved to my Google Drive visible to anyone?

This depends on how you save/share them. Maps saved to Drive work like any other Google Drive document related to sharing - so if you save them to a private folder and not share with anyone, they will be private. If you save them to a shared folder, they will be visible to other collaborators who have access to it.

Thank you for the prompt reply - it was very helpful.
Just to double-check - is it right that after I install MindMup at my GoogleDrive as explained here, I can:
  • create maps using more or less the same functionality as your web app (app.mindmup.com) has
  • save/export my maps to GoogleDrive in all the same formats that web app supports, and without 100kb size limit on the exported file (or any other limitations whatsoever)
Thank you!

The MindMup cloud storage supports safe collaborative editing, Google Drive integration does not. Working with large maps is also significantly faster/more convenient with MindMup cloud storage. On the other hand, working with Google Drive lets you include attachments and images from Google Drive, which the Cloud storage does not.

  • save/export my maps to GoogleDrive in all the same formats that web app supports, and without 100kb size limit on the exported file (or any other limitations whatsoever)

Exports are affected by the 100 KB limit if you are not using a Gold account, so you will not be able to convert large maps to any other format even if they are stored on Drive.

Saving is affected by limitations of your Drive account, not by MindMup.
