MindMup Desktop - Free Mind Mapping

Hi!

Me and my Colleges prefer first Mindmup and I would like to ask you. 

On your website says that you will support first MindMap until 1 January 2017. This means that we will not be able to use it anyway?

What will happen with the application for Chrome "MindMup Desktop - Free Mind Mapping". Are you going to remove it from the Chrome Web Store after 1 January 2017?

Hi,

We'll shut down the old mindmup on January 1st.

MindMup Desktop is not going away immediately, but Google is
discontinuing Chrome apps so we will not be updating it. You will be
able to use it after January 1st until Google kills chrome apps, but
we will not support it or fix any bugs in it going forward.

Thank you for your message.

I have worked with Mindmup and use your tool for lectures on programming languages.

In this way, I add definition and an example in each block of Mindmup and for this I used attachment.

But in the second version Mindmup I can't edit attachment as text which means that all the work we've done before, we need to move in a notes. 

I would like to ask you, will you add the opportunity to edit text in te future? 

If not could you send the file extension for Chorome "MindMup Desktop - Free Mind Mapping", in order to keep lectures.

I appreciate your time and the work that you do.

Hi,

You can easily add/edit text notes. In MindMup 2 we split the attachment feature from MindMup 1 into two: attachments (files on drive) and text notes (simple text, editable in the map). 

The old rich text attachments caused too many problems, as people would just paste invalid HTML and break everything, then complain that MindMup is broken. Plus we would never be able to offer full rich text editing support that google writer already provides, so there wasn't much point competing with that. So for users that need just simple textual comments (such as the one in your example), it's best to use notes feature: https://www.mindmup.com/tutorials/notes.html -- this allows you to also easily export notes into a writer doc or an outline. Users that need full rich text support are better off just creating a google writer document and attaching it to the map.

The attachments that you have are read-only so there's no data loss, but i'd suggest copying and pasting the contents into text notes. We don't plan to add rich text editing for attachments back, but we will add some rich text markup capabilities for notes later this year (such as basic formatting, bullets, italics, bolds and hyperlinks).

I know that every extension of the Chrome Web Store is stored in .crx file and I wanted you to send this file to me until Google kills this apps. 

But now I think it would be better if I go to Mindmup 2.

you will still be able to use all the extensions that you installed, and you can easily grab the crx if you want from the chrome web store. from what I understand about Google's plans, they will disable creating new applications, then updating old apps, but they will keep serving old apps that you already installed for the foreseeable future.
