J.J. Flynn (Pico Alexander) just graduated high school and is spending the summer working for his dad (Burns) at a swanky beach club. He wants a different kind of life, so he pals around with rich kids and dates a rich girl (whose main characteristics are vocal fry and rolling her eyes). J.J.'s cousin Terry (Amadeus Serafini), a wannabe singer-songwriter, is staying with J.J. for the summer, working for the next door neighbor, a single mom named Claudia (Susan Misner) who manages a small marina. Claudia's teenage daughter Winky (Rita Volk) is in a funk because her rich boyfriend blew her off, and she sulks as she wipes down the boats at the marina. Claudia encourages Terry, a hottie with perpetual bedroom eyes, to befriend Winky. Suzy (Caitlin Stasey) a local girl who "got out," returns for the summer, and discovers that her high school boyfriend Frankie (Anthony Ramos) has been pining for her all this time. Debbie (Lindsey Morgan) works at the beach club with J.J. and a tentative relationship forms. Debbie is confident, J.J. is not. Some of these arcs work better than others. One arc doesn't work at all (Terry is supposed to seem cool and free-spirited, but instead he comes off as self-involved and pushy.)
The film does not fetishize the period, although of course it shows up in the clothes, the cars, and most obviously the soundtrack, featuring Duran Duran, The Cure, Chaka Khan, The Go-Go's. Some of the needle drops are a little on the nose (Eddie Cochran's "Summertime Blues" makes an obligatory appearance), but they set the mood and also meld with the summery mood, which Burns captures, in the block party, the fireworks on the beach, sand between your toes, the look of early morning, the feel of a season of freedom before things get serious. Burns has been around for a long time at this point, following his opening splash with 1995's "The Brothers McMullen," made on almost no budget, with no big-name actors. He has continued to make films, with small budgets or even micro-budgets. His current series, "Bridge and Tunnel," taking place in the same period as "Summer Days, Summer Nights," was put on pause during Covid, but it is slated to return. Burns has grown as an actor and has settled into middle-age comfortably. He was born to play straight-talking dads, and he's very good here.
This EO also temporarily extends the substitute service limitation for holders of a Commission-issued document authorizing substitute teaching and TCC holders to 120 days for any one teacher in a General Education setting. This flexibility is not extended to Special Education settings. In order for the 120 day limit in a general education setting to apply, the educator must be placed in the assignment by March 31, 2022. If placed in the assignment after that date, the educator may substitute for other teachers for up to 60 days (both General Education and Special Education settings) through June 30, 2022, pursuant to Assembly Bill 167. On July 1, 2022 the substitute service limitations for all holders of documents authorizing substitute teaching will be 30 days in a General Education setting and 20 days in a Special Education setting.
Passage of the Education Omnibus Budget Trailer Bill continued the extension of the number of cumulative days a substitute teacher can serve in the classroom for one teacher of record until July 1, 2023. The following substitute timeframes apply until that date:
As of episode 17, the website has published DaddySubs' releases instead of SlyFox's, as opposed to before. I'm making this post to ask that the staff should wait for the latter releases instead of the former's, because they're absolute trash and are full of spelling mistakes and incorrect dialogues, while the SlyFox releases do come some days later, but at the cost of quality instead of the absolute shitshow that is on the website now. Please consider my request to fix this issue, as it greatly hurts the experience.
In subtitling, both reduction and amplification techniques are used even though, theoretically, reduction techniques are preferable because of space efficiency. This research aimed to analyze (1) the amplification techniques and (2) the reduction techniques movie subtitle in the movie entitled 500 Days of Summer. The data collection technique was document analysis. The documents analyzed were the ones containing theories on translation techniques, the English subtitle of 500 Days of Summer and the Indonesian subtitle of 500 Days of Summer. The result was that there were amplification techniques consisting of addition, explicitation, and paraphrase, in which the most dominant technique was explicitation. There were also reduction techniques consisting of implicitation, deletion, and concision, in which the most dominant technique was concision. The number of reduction techniques was more than the number of amplification techniques.

7.26.17 A final note to those of you who come to my blog often. After a year & a half of my blog, I am starting a redesign of the blog tomorrow. My blog may be down for a couple of days and will most certainly look different. Be patient with me. When I started my blog, I did so with no training (not that I have any now) or idea of what to do. I just went in full blast and started writing. I hope to make this blog a bit more useful to those of you who come here frequently. More soon. Thanks for your support of this classroom teacher sharing her work and thoughts with the world.

DOXA makes watches for everyone, and its colorful collection palette is a literal rainbow for the wrist for whatever you choose to do this summer. These colours are available across all the DOXA collections, so there is no problem picking a watch to match your style! But remember, that DOXA is never far from the water and so whether by the pool, under the waves, on your surfboard or on the deck of a yacht; your SUB 300T will always help you keep track of time.
Half-days are often a good solution, but even then, there are few potential hangups. If your PD plan for the year includes significant training that is best absorbed by longer sessions, you may need to hold full-day trainings or more half-days than is appropriate. There are also contractual considerations.
AccelerateThe program is the option to take a 3-week intensive course during the final summer sub-term. The class consists of a teaching block Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., so you will only be able to take one of the available courses.

A: Yes, the person can receive both a paycheck and unemployment benefit payments in the same week. Since unemployment claims are measured by an entire week, it is possible to work one day and be off the next, file a claim, and then return to work later. The TWC uses all wages earned in a week to offset any benefits paid. For example, the wages the person earned in the past four quarters are used to calculate a Weekly Benefit Amount (WBA) when the initial claim is filed. This is what the TWC pays in unemployment benefits. However, this payment will be offset with any wages earned in a claim week doing things like subbing. A claimant may earn up to 125% of this WBA and still claim unemployment benefits, but the payment is reduced as the person earns more, up to 125%. So, if a person who is eligible for $200 per week in unemployment benefits works two days as a sub and earns $150, the person would be eligible to collect only $100 in unemployment benefits (125% of $200 = $250 - $150 earned subbing = $100 unemployment benefits).
