Description
Hey everyone! š
I built an Android app called Morning Mindful that helps break the habit of doom-scrolling first thing in the morning. It blocks social media apps until you write a short journal entry.
How it works:
Blocks apps like Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Reddit, YouTube during your morning hours
Write ~200 words to unlock (configurable)
Also blocks browsers so you can't cheat via web
All data stays on your device, encrypted
I need testers for Google Play closed testing!
ā ļø Important: About the Permission
This app requires the Accessibility Service permission. Android will show a scary warning saying "allow full control of your device."
What it actually does:
Detects when you open a blocked app (that's it)
What it does NOT do:
Read your screen content
Log your keystrokes
Access your passwords
Collect any personal data
There's no alternative API on Android for detecting app launches in real-time. Google's own Digital Wellbeing app uses the same permission for the same reason.
The app is open source if you want to verify: https://github.com/alanmurfi/MorningMindful
