This groove builds from last week's "Samba Foot" drum lesson. This beat continues the samba foot pattern, but also includes a 3-note ostinato pattern with the right stick, as well as some other embellishments.

One of ten tracks from the album The Danish Radio Big Band Plays Thad Jones (1997), this uptempo samba for experienced jazz bands features trumpet and soprano (or alto) sax first as a duo, then opens up so each one has the chance to step into the solo spotlight. A bop-style trombone soli and powerful band shout lead to a big finish. Rhythm section parts are partially notated with chords cued. Duration 5:00.
