Slicktasks is an application that has a lot of potential, but I still
use my old Sony Clié with ShadowPlan for task management, because I
did not find an other application as userfriendly and as powerful.

Here are some very useful features missing in Slicktasks:

custom filter/sort/view - I would like to filter the list by different
combination of logical conditions like by context, by subject, by
priority, date range, complete vs not complete. (Shadowplan is the
most powerful with this feature)

When selecting a task, I would like to be able to click an icon to be
able to see the note associated with the task, and hopefully, NOT at
the bottom, after the list of task characteristics.

Be able to have a toolbar at the top or bottom of the screen with some
popular functions. There is too much menu items in the Blackberry menu
button. I have to scroll menu items too much, it's time consuming.

Having a counterpart application for the computer or on the web, so
all the task tree structure would not be lost if the blackberry phone
is lost or broken. It is also more convenient to do task planning on a
large screen than on a blackberry. Some other task management software
synchronize the task tree in the blackberry app, with a web site,
accessible on the computer. See Toodledo.com & taskjot. Although this
solution has other weaknesses, this aspect is really great.

Best regards,

Alain

I am willing to pay a lot more than the small amount you charge for
Slicktasks if you implement those features. 30$ would definitely not
be too much if the suggestions above are implemented

Ditto that, I love this Application, taken over my native Memopad,
because you can have a due date/alert/alarm, different coloured fonts,
Numbered Notes/Count of how many branches under any level, Just works
for me. LOVE IT

I would love to see these ideas implemented

1, Always open app at top of list & collapsed.
2, Give option to collapse/expand all from BlackBerry key or when
exiting the application.
3, This is Standard Edition, is there a Pro Edition.
4, Have different themes.
5, Backup to the cloud/PC.
6, When rolling on root of tree to extend it, would be helpfull if you
had a choice to extend all of tree or just first branch.
7, Search option.

I agree. There are many outliners available for the Palm -- Bonsai was
one of my primary apps -- but I can't find anything for the
Blackberry. Natara (who created Bonsai) doesn't have plans to build an
outliner for Blackberry; they're focusing on iPhone. The same seems
to be true with the other software providers. It seems there's a real
opportunity here for someone who writes for the BB -- especially given
its business orientation.

I'd pay $30 in a heartbeat for anything that came close to Bonsai.

I am recently new to the BlackBerry after more than 10 years with a
Palm. I was an avid ShadowPlan user, and I have found SlickTasks to
be the next best thing available on the BB.

I want to emphasize my agreement with the above comments and
suggestions. Please don't let the evolution of this product end with
what we have today - all of the above would increase the effectiveness
of this tool and ultimately my productivity!

Hi all,

SlickTasks development does not end here. As SlickTasks maker, I want it to continue to become better and better and achieve awesomeness in term of task management effectiveness.

Currently I'm using a newer beta build of SlickTasks with some more advanced capabilities like category, filtering and grouping.. Okay I must say it is so much more effective than the public version, tasks are more manageable with no information overload.

I hope we can make the update available soon. Personally I haven't tried ShadowPlan yet. I hope to hear more suggestions from you, for me, it is very invaluable.

Regards,
D

Hi

I also have some suggestions:

1.       When canceling the addition of a task, still a blank task is added which must be deleted. This a little annoying

2.       Include Slicktasks database in the BB desktop backup

3.       Option in the settings to change the default backup location

4.       Very big wish: desktop client and sync between BB and desktop

5.       Automatic completion of a parent task when all child tasks are completed

Bye

This may have been an oversight, but could you update SlickTasks to
allow for double-tap entry of characters in the Search field? I have
a BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and it doesn't have a full QWERTY keyboard,
and apparently SlickTasks doesn't allow for double-tap entry of the
second character on the keys. Thanks!

This sounds useful ("Wow, it's so exciting!!!!). We'll wait patiently
("OMG!!! How long will it take?") for some of this organizational
goodness to come to a public version ("AHHHHHGH, sign me up as a beta
tester!!!").

Calmly (freaking out),

Is there any possibility of getting Slicktasks to integrate with the
onboard task list? In other words, I would love to remove the
existing task list and selecting t would open Slicktasks instead, and
even better, having slicktasks sync back to my stand alone Outlook on
the PC (via desktop manager). This would help a whole lot when it
comes to updating OS, etc. as once my newly updated BB synced with
Outlook I would have all that information back. I'm also still very
interested in seeing an icon on the home screen that does not go away
if a task came due but I did not check it as completed. I need a
nagger in a form OTHER than constant pop ups that need to be
dismissed. A visual reminder on the home screen would do it for me.

ladsr777: The problems with Search field are fixed and now works wonderfully.
French: Outlook doesn't support tree-structure task management, if SlickTasks sync with Outlook it will lose the hierarchy order of tasks. You can easily backup to a xml file and secure it somewhere. The home screen indicator icon that shows the number of past due tasks is also implemented.

Dat, how do I obtain an updated version of SlickTasks with the search
field correction?

I like some suggestions made in these threads and I like how they are
working in beta. HOWEVER, I hope that the screen does not become too
cluttered if you decide to add a task bar feature. The font is already
small in order to show all the information (task, date, etc). I do not
think it hurts to scroll through the blackberry menu. I don't think
that takes any more time than scrolling to the top and then scrolling
left and right to pick an option. I like the option hidden in the
blackbeery button menu just fine.

Also, maybe you could have different versions of slick task, and
charge different amounts. I don't want just a one version, super
expensive version to choose from and that's it. If i wanted that, i
could go to todomatrix. I like slick tasks how it is now with some
minor improvements. Would be willing to pay more, but don't want to
pay 50 dollars for it if possible. (although, i probably would, lol
because slick tasks is coming along nicely! )
