Dear participants and speakers,

After 19 sessions over more than a year, our seminar "Progress and Visions in the Scientific Study of the Mind-Matter Relation" has now come to an end (even though maybe a preliminary one!). We have truly enjoyed the talks and questions, and we are very happy to have got to know to so many of you!

We would like to point your attention to the following three remarks:

1.) Conference in Oxford

We are co-organizing the conference "Models of Consciousness", which will take place at the Mathematical Institute at Oxford from 9-12 Sept 2019. The conference focuses on formal-mathematical approaches to consciousness and will feature both talks by invited speakers as well as talks by participants. Please see https://models-of-consciousness.org for more information. It would be wonderful to see many of you on this occasion, and to also have your talks!

Note that the spaces are limited. If you’re interested in joining the conference, we recommend you to register rather sooner than later.

2.) You can now post on this mailing list

We have decided to turn this mailing list into a general list devoted to the Scientific Study of Consciousness and the Mind-Matter Relation - with a special focus on formal approaches. Everyone is invited to post announcements, events, etc.

To post to this group, simply send a message to mind-matte...@googlegroups.com from the email address with which you are registered. Also, you can invite anyone to join this group by forwarding the group's webpage: https://groups.google.com/d/forum/mind-matter-relation. Finally, if you wish to leave this group, simply click on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any message.

3.) Continuation of this seminar series

This seminar has been a very positive experience for both of us, through which we have learned a lot. We are planning to organise another seminar series of a similar format. However, this series will not start until after the Oxford conference, i.e. autumn 2019, and provided that we both have jobs ;) Details will follow on this list!

In the meantime, there will probably be smaller independent online events which we will announce on this list on a case-by-case basis.

Once again, thanks so much for joining us throughout the last year, be it as a speaker or as a participant. It was your presence which made this seminar what it was, and we are very grateful for having been a part of this.

Best wishes,
Robin & Johannes
