When I run Minarca app on Windows it works but when I close it, may be it also works but there is no tray icon and it feels like it is not running.

Hello Sergey,

I understand that the absence of a tray icon might give the impression that Minarca is not running after closing the main window. However, this is an intentional design choice that I don't plan to change in the near future. I see no benefit in keeping an application in the tray if it's not actively performing any tasks, as it would consume system resources unnecessarily. For this reason, Minarca runs in the background only when required.

I'm willing to implement this feature, we could make it as an option available on right menu of Minarca Client, I would like to know if IKUS Software team is willing to commit such feature to Minarca Client source code?

I do believe that the usage of Minarca Client on taskbar would be minimal since Minarca is running on background anyway. Would Minarca team be opening for a commit that adds this functionality to Minarca Client? It could be an optional feature enabled on Menu if IKUS team do not see it as an useful feature, but I do believe it could have useful features like notifying user when backup failed or when it’s running.

Hello Eduardo,

I'm honestly against Tray Icon. From my perspective it's a bad UI design only available on Windows. It's not present on Linux nor on MacOS. Also it provides little value to the user. Minarca is already opening notification when the backup is past due and this doesn't require any TrayIcon either.

At least on Windows, it could easily offer to the end user (that maybe not much technical knowledge) to open Minarca and restore the backup. I really adopted Minarca because of it's ease-of-use UI for the end user. The systray also exists on macOS and Linux, near the clock, and there's Python packages that implements this feature for all major OSes. When I run Minarca on macOS, when user reboots the machine, he may have the sensation that the program isn't running because there's no icon on Dock. Without this indication, the user may think that the backup isn't running as expected until it's past due, and also requires the user to find the program on Launchpad or Start Menu. We could also animate the icon to report issues or that there's a backup running. Google Drive and other backup programs have an icon on systray.
