Request for Contributions – Thirukkural Conference Poster Content
During the Thani Nayagam Adigal Birth Centenary celebrations, several informative poster boards (as attached) were displayed, which proved to be highly valuable for attendees.
Similarly, we are planning to create 20 poster boards for the upcoming Thirukkural Conference. Each board will feature three pieces of information, requiring a total of 60 concise write-ups (approximately 150 words each) focused on Thirukkural and Thiruvalluvar.
We kindly invite you to contribute to this meaningful initiative by sharing short, well-researched pieces of information. These may include historical facts, translations, global impact, literary significance, or contemporary relevance of the Thirukkural and its revered author.

George Uglow Pope and the First Complete English Translation of the Thirukkural
George Uglow Pope was the first person to translate the entire Thirukkural into English, publishing it on September 1, 1886, under the title The Sacred Kural. This monumental work played a crucial role in introducing the moral and philosophical richness of Tamil literature to the Western world.
Born in 1820 in Prince Edward Island, Canada, G.U. Pope was a scholar and missionary who deeply respected Tamil culture. In recognition of his contributions, the Canadian Tamil Congress erected a monument in his honor, which was unveiled in 2023. Information can be emailed to in...@torontotamilsangam.ca.
