People living during the Harappan civilization around 4,000 years ago, have been found consuming high-protein, multigrain ‘laddoos’, according to a study. The scientific study of the material found during an excavation in Rajasthan has revealed this. Jointly conducted by the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences (BSIP), Lucknow, and Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), New Delhi, the study was recently published in the ‘Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports’ by Elsevier.
At least seven ‘laddoos’ were discovered in 2017 during the excavation of a Harappan archaeological site in Binjor in western Rajasthan (near Pakistan border) between 2014 and 2017. BSIP senior scientist Rajesh Agnihotri said, “Seven similar big-size brown ‘laddoos’, two figurines of bulls and a hand-held copper adze (a tool similar to an axe, used for cutting or shaping wood) were excavated by the ASI at the Harappan site in Anupgarh district of Rajasthan.

All the cultural artifacts unearthed during excavations near the Mahapali Charity Hall (AMP 88) are closely intertwined with the southern and central parts of the city, and in the context of its designation numbered 75 (AMP 88 (75)) ' Can be applied to the 'historical era'. Evidence revealed in this context is parallel to the cultural deposits in the context of Anuradhapura Gedige No. 17 (AG 85 (17)) and Salgahawatta No. 88 (ASW 88 (88)). These comparative studies confirm the simultaneous spread of a culture showing similar characteristics between the cultural deposits of excavation sites located at considerable distances from each other within the city, which is spread over a wide area. Prof. Wimalasena HologamaIt should be pointed out again that the confusions of Mr.'s view cannot be identified in the soil layers of these excavations and at least there is no room for speculation or conjecture.
As mentioned above, there are 5 fragmented clay pots (these include 5 clay pots) found in the cultural deposits of No. 75 (AMP 88 (75)) excavated near the Mahapali Alms Hall in 1988. As mentioned by Prof. Hologama , they are ' Ge ', ' Thayakute ', 'Thara (cha) ', ' Chagaya ' and ' Ka (b).Has been identified. The researcher has provided 14 absolute dates for these archeological excavations, namely 9 determinations of radiocarbon or carbon 14 (Q14) and 5 thermoluminescence (TL) time periods. Among the chronologies are five radiocarbon chronometers and one thermocouple chronometer for the upper cultural layers of the 75th (AMP 88 (75)) context of excavations near the Great Hall of Fame, as well as 2 carbon chronometers and 75 ultrasonic luminosities for the 75th context of this excavation. Also known as 2 radiocarbon dates for cultural events below context. Accordingly, the cultural stratification of this excavation has been established to a formal chronology on a robust chronological basis. In connection with the 75th context of excavations (AMP 88 (75)) near the Anuradhapura Mahapali Alms Hall, which is directly related to our discussion, the cultural layer with pottery fragments of Bandarahmi letters belongs to 2 dates. If we consider the mean values of these, they date back to the 6th or 7th century BC and the corresponding period.
Among the three research excavations in the inner city used for the above discussion are the context of excavation 75 (AMP 88 (75)) near the Mahapali Alms Hall and the context of the 17th excavation near Gedige (AG 85 (17)) and the context of excavation 88 near Salgahawatta (ASW 88 (88). )) Have been established to coincide with each other in terms of their existing cultural materiality. These excavations have generated the chronological basis for dating to at least the 7th-6th centuries BC, more justifiably from the ecological densities themselves.
The context of the 88th excavation at Salgahawatta, Anuradhapura (ASW 88) has yielded two fragments of pottery with the texts of Bandarahmi . According to the second Mahapurana letter ' D ', it is meant that these letters must be spelled correctly. These factors date back to the 6th century BC, according to carbon dating.
The discussion on the antiquity of the Barahrami alphabet focused on various instances of archeological excavations carried out in South India. In the meantime, it is pertinent to pay special attention to three recent archeological excavations in South India and Ceylon. These are the prehistoric Iron Age burial sites ' Kodumanal ' and ' Porunthal ' located in the South Indian region and the excavations carried out at the ' Andarawewa ' Prehistoric Iron Age Cemetery near Galgamuwa in Sri Lanka .
Professor K.S.Rajan, Department of History, University of Pondicherry, South India. Rajan and his team excavated two burial mounds at Kodumanal and Porunthal in the Kongu region. Excavations at Kodumanal have uncovered a number of documents depicting the Brahmin alphabet, and two pottery specimens inscribed with the Brahmin alphabet have been unearthed by radiocarbon dating of 408 and 330 BC, respectively. Note that subsequent calendar days belong to a much older period.) Given by those researchers.
Excavations at the Mahashila Cemetery at Porunthal Gnarama at the foothills of the Western Ghats, about 12 km southwest of Palani in the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, have uncovered two fragments of clay pottery inscribed with the Bandrarahmi inscriptions. The excavations were carried out at this site in 2009 and 2010 by Prof. K.S. Mr. Rajan was conducted by a leading research team. One portion of the pottery found here dates back to 490 BC, when radiocarbon dates (unedited) were obtained. This again suggests an earlier date than the Kodumanal dates. Prof. K.S. RajanAnd other researchers, including Mr. ” This inspires us to revisit the ideas behind the Brahmanical alphabet of India. ”
Dr. Iravatham Mahadevan , considered to be one of the most distinguished epigraphic writers in the South Asian region who passed away on November 26, 2018, said that the evidence uncovered in Anuradhapura in 1997 was a revolutionary discovery and that in order to acknowledge it, one must obtain contemporary evidence from India. Subsequent excavations at Kodumanal and Porunthal have met this need, so it is no longer difficult or painful to accept the veracity of these factors uncovered in the city, including Anuradhapura.
It is of particular importance in this discussion to draw attention to the findings of the excavations carried out at the Andarawewa Mahashila Sampradaya Cemetery near Galgamuwa due to a local location as well as a recent discovery. In the second half of 2017, Prof. D.W. Archaeological excavations carried out by Thusitha Mendis at the prehistoric Iron Age Cemetery at Andarawewa Gannaramaya near Galgamuwa in the Anamaduwa Divisional Secretariat have uncovered these facts. Two Brahmin letters have been identified in two pieces of broken body parts in a clay pot buried in the tomb. Prof. Thusitha Mendis has commented as follows.
THIS DISCOVERY IN CONNECTION WITH THE ANDARAWEWA MAHA SHILA CEMETERY CAN BE POINTED OUT AS A VERY IMPORTANT DISCOVERY REGARDING THE BANDARAHMI INSCRIPTIONS IN SRI LANKA. IT CAN BE POINTED OUT THAT THE CLAY POTS PLACED INSIDE A STONE BOX SURROUNDED BY 4 STONE SLABS ARE COVERED WITH A LARGE LID STONE AND THERE IS NO DISPLACEMENT AND NO MOVEMENT DUE TO ANIMAL CARCASSES. THEREFORE IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO GET THESE SPELLED CLAY POTS FROM A PLACE WHERE THE CONTEXT IS NOT CONFUSING IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE OTHER IMPORTANT POINT HERE IS THAT THE BONE SAMPLES TAKEN FROM THE INSIDE OF THE POTTERY CONTAINING THESE LETTERS WERE SENT TO THE BETA ANALYTIC INSTITUTE IN THE UNITED STATES AND THE CHRONOLOGY OF THE BONES AND THE POTTERY DATES BACK TO 491 - 366 BC (2440-2315 CAL). BP) 94.4% RELIABILITY GIVEN THIS TIMELINE1. BETA ANALYTICS (BETA - 482665) STATES THAT THEY BELONG TO 507-501 (2456-2449) BC, WITH AN ACCURACY OF 0%. ACCORDINGLY, IT IS CERTAIN THAT THESE LETTERS BELONG TO THE 6TH CENTURY BC.
According to Prof. Thusitha Mendis , the adoption of the Bandarahmi script in line with these dates in a context where the context has the least ambiguity underscores the idea put forward by Dr. Siran Deraniyagala in the 1990s.
